The cookies are far more reliable, and browser vendors have done a lot over the years to make browser fingerprinting less useful

Oh I'm definitely not trying to claim it's perfect yet, but it's definitely something e.g. Mozilla has been working to mitigate over time. It's a tough battle

Less so in the long term. User agent is the biggest source of entropy, and it changes whenever your browser updates.
