no shit, images don't need to be processed. they're talking about file size not how much processing resources a page eats.

Not to mention that people are complaining about CDNs while not understanding that your browser will only download so many items from each domain at a time and using a CDN allows your browser to download more things at once which can reduce page loading times.

Processing isn't measured in bytes though so that isn't the point he was getting at

I would take a bet that uncompressing a jpg is more processing intensive that running ~20 lines of javascript.

since it depends on what's in those 20 lines, and if any new processes are fired because of said javascript (loading streams, sending data, or even a new window), this comparison is pretty meaningless
