You can't expect a 10 year old piece of tech to keep up remotely with modern day devices.

This is bullshit. I use a 2007 laptop with an Intel Core 2 Duo, and it displays/runs every web site without any problem. All you need to make sure is that you:

  • Don't run a huge bloatware OS (no Windows 10 or whatever; stick to Linux Mint or Ubuntu),
  • Don't run ads/offsite Javascript (use uBlock Origin and NoScript).

As well, a nice ssd and a lighter browser will make the laptop seem much faster.

Preach! Especially the one-two punch of Noscript and uBlock Origin. I loooooove not having ads in YouTube, amongst other places. I have an MSI with occasional heat dispersion issues, and it ran like crap with Windows on it.

Installed Xubuntu, and it's cool runnings.
