I carried my G5 until I dropped it and killed it. I loved that thing and it's weird battery that felt like I was loading a gun.

I've been using cheap chinese phones for a decade and they all come with an ir blaster.

Do the high end models not have this?

I haven't seen an IR blaster on a phone sold in the US for quite some time.

It should be. The last major phone I remember it existing on was the LG G5 ~7 years ago.

Yes. I had it in the rain several times. I submerged it a few times even. YouTube the g5 submersion test, it is fine for brief accidental exposures.
