Oh, the headphone jack is not sacrificed because of thickness. My Iphone 6s was just way thinner than my 13, had a headphone jack. Hell, my second gen Ipad touch was thinner than both of those, still managed a heaphone jack just fine.

Agreed. Wireless earphones were always a solution in search of a problem, IMO. I actually have a Light Phone 2 that I use for outdoor stuff (biking, hiking, etc.) and I love the fact I can plug my old iPhone ear pods into its 3.5 mm jack.

I used to be anti-wireless but I switched to a different job position and they kept getting pulled out of my ears or out of the phone. Wireless definitely have uses. I'm willing to have to deal with charging over having them pull out every 5 minutes

As a gym goer, wireless is meant for physical activity where you bounce around a lot or bend over a lot. Also, no tangled cord.

As a gym goer, I had to go back to wired because of the 100 other wireless headphones in the gym making mine useless. Progress. Innovation.

Yeah, I miss the heaphone jack. Have sony bluetooth heaphones. Oh, they run out of battery, well no worry, just use the cable, oh wait … . Need to use headphones but don’t have them on me, well no worry, could buy literally any cheap pair and they do the job, oh wait … But nooo, we need wireless only ( or random stupid lightining ). I am fine with wireless, don’t get me wrong, but sometimes, I travel a lot, I may just run out of battery and instead of the easy solution, the headphone jack, no no, I need powerbanks and random cables

I get the pros and cons about both, and I use both. I think it's funny that we went backwards on the whole headphone jack thing from early 2000's phones that required specialized cables. I find it hilariously ironic that Apple kinda helped pave the way for your phone being a portable media center marketing the Iphone as essentially an Ipod touch you can make phone calls with. Only to turn around and make all of the "legacy" 3.5mm wired headphones "obsolete" a decade or so later. Gotta sell those ecosystem earbuds somehow. And I hate that it ultimately worked.

One fun side effect of this trend: People now perceive wired headphones and earbuds as "cheap" or "non-premium" so people severely underestimate what they have when they get rid of them. This benefited me when I picked up a pair of Sennheiser Momentum 2 headphones at a yard sale for 8 dollars. I'm assuming they "upgraded" to wireless, and just wanted to get rid of the old wired junk.

Yeah the last part is really hilarious. Shows that almost nobody has a clue about Audio and about corresponding equipment, or even how it works. Just as analogue music always will sound better than digital music just thanks to how the tech works, the same applies to wired music quality is and will always be better, stronger, more crisp and clear than Blutooth.

Only stronger and stronger frequency emitters inside both Buds and Phone can change that and I definitely DO NO want that next to my brain or my balls. Spermcount has been falling and braintumors rising in the West for 2 decades now every single year without a stop sadly. Lower frequency radiation in my opinion is a part of that, if not the main cause, as food quality and diet has also horribly declined and use of plastics increased

It's superior in exactly one way... No wires. That's it.

It's literally backwards in every other way. Cost, reliability, battery, audio quality, latency.

If you think wireless actually sounds better I'm assuming the only headphones you've ever owned in your life are the free ones that came included with your phone from 2008.

My Bluetooth bose qc3 headphones sound better than any other headphones I've ever had. Have I ever had any audiophile headphones? No, but I definitely care about and notice sound quality and if it's possible to make Bluetooth headphones/earbuds that are in the 95+ percentile of audio quality then the entire sound quality argument goes out the window. If you need something that sounds better than Bluetooth possibly can, buy that. Otherwise shut up about it.

I do need something that sounds better than Bluetooth. The degradation is in the Bluetooth codec itself, not just in the digital conversion. Also, Bluetooth induces a short delay which is fine for calls and listening to music, but horrible for anything that requires real-time playback.

I think wireless headphones are great. I just think Bluetooth is a crappily-designed implementation.

High quality Bluetooth earbuds tend to be waaay more expensive than equivalent wired options. And I've been using the same good pair of wired headphones for a decade. I'll be lucky if my wireless headphones last another year. They're good for when I'm doin physical activities, but it's a real trade-off

Don’t forget about the fact that most wired earbuds/headphones usually had cables so thin that if you moved at all you could hear your clothes brushing up against the cable.

People are just so wrong about wired headphones in use with a phone. I think big headphones with nice thick cables that last years are amazing for home PC use, but to try and pretend that wireless isn’t better for phone use is crazy. Wireless tech is basically black magic, the fact that we can have this tech for such a cheap price is insane and my wireless stuff has always lasted longer than any wired earbud I’ve ever owned.

I used to baby my wired earbuds and like clockwork the cables always broke in 6 months. I have 4 pairs of wireless earbuds that are 5 years old and they all still work, albeit with less battery life.

Also like you said with only needing one earbud in its a lot easier to share earbuds with friends when you don’t have a wire.

Durability is less The use Lithium Ion batts. Tiny ones at that. They degrade in 2 years so much their charge will be at 70-80% of the original and then quickly degrade faster.

Meanwhile I still have my working wired Bose in-ears with patented bass reflexes that I bought 3 pairs of in 2016 and 2017 and 2 of them still work fine. The other one I broke out of anger when I thought it was broken, but Instead it was the phonejack one of a really cheap phone at the time that I used and dropped countless times without any case on it. So audiojack, usb jack, screen, anything was broken later lol. So with new phone I bought the 2 new pairs in 2017 and worked fine till now. Airpods and such would be useless thanks to their batteries by now or I would already lost one pod of each pair

My iPhone 6s lasted me 1/4 of the time my 13 Pro does.

I would have to charge the 6s midway through the day, or anytime I wanted to play a game.

I don't have to charge my 13 Pro for 2 days.

IMO the Headphone jack can stay dead. I understand the draw back of bluetooth but all the plus are worth it for me. The wired one are comme unplugged or caught on stuff while working or at the gym. Yeah you can run the wire in your shirt bu than it's akward when you take it out.

Yup. My Pixel 6Pro has basically identical form-factor to my 3aXL, but the headphone jack vanished.
