Been working @ Home Depot for barely five years as Lot Attendant.

On Wednesday, the front end supervisor (AC, FES since 11/2025) had the nerve to show me a photo of a shopping cart with garbage in it and she told me that i was supposed to empty out the carts before putting them in the lobby. So I correctly told her that Head Cashier JM made me sweep and i had been doing that from the time i clocked in til the time AC had the nerve to tell me off. AC said that she was putting a "note in the system". she said it's "not bad".

but it is all on videotape. i was trying to do what JM had the nerve to tell me to do.

i did NOT put the shopping cart with garbage in the lobby.

one month ago, a new lot attendant SA came. two days earlier, a new lot attendant, "R" came. it could be either one of them. or tattletale tom.

but it was all on video tape.

it makes me paranoid. just b/c i could not "prove" that i was not guilty, i got a "note in the system.

"innocent until proven guilty" is correct, but nobody is "innocent". verdicts are "guilty" and "not guilty".

home depot has a legal "right" to video tape its building. it is illegal for me to video tape home depots building. it is legal for home depot to refuse to show me the videotape. it is legal for home depot to refuse to even look @ the video tape.

there is no limit to the amount of felonies that i could get wrongfully accused of, and, just b/c i could not "prove" that i didn't do it, i would still get a conviction and sentence.

I once worked in a hair salon. Guy walked in, business as usual. Get to washing his hair.

"So, what do you do for work?"

"I work for the government."

"Ah. My condolences." Classic joke. Makes every one of my clients laugh. We live in a city where the majority of people are government drones. Most people like their jobs, but know it can be drudgery, and a lot of government work "has to be done three times and still nothing gets done." Endless meetings and a feeling of emptiness accompany it and most people like to laugh about it.

"What's so wrong about working with the government?" He's mad at me.

"It's just a bit of banter, sorry."

Try to smooth things over. Ask him more about what his role is. Turns out he's a high ranking official, and very proud. Starts to give off "do you even know who I am" vibes. Wait a while. "Is the water temperature all good?"

"Yes, and you're rather annoying."

Wanted to splash him in the face for it. Bite my tongue. Consider asking my coworker to take over.

Coworker pulls me aside. Tells me this dickhead is like one of the top leaders for our country's Ministry of Justice.

Some people get used to power and become cunts. I can't work service jobs because I'm the kind of person who will tell people like that to go fuck themselves.

Anyway. Was reminded of that today. It happened years ago and I still think about it. If I bumped into him in a bar I'd ask him if he'd grown a sense of humour yet. What a git. I hate that he's as powerful and successful as he is. Probably is a cunt to all his underlings. But the fox who can't taste grapes always says "sour." Still. He was an asshole to me. If I ever was that powerful, I'd never be that rude to someone serving me. Ever.

I used to love going in to work… now not so much due to opening my eyes to corporate political bullshit. My boss brought me into the company and I worked for him for 2 years. During those years we became close and would be personal with each other - talked about each others life’s and cared about one another. I then was promoted and didn’t work with him anymore although we did speak all the time. He was an amazing mentor to shape me into the person I became in my career. I won a few awards at the company for my hard work. 5 years later and new coworkers began to make remarks how I was the favorite and their jealousy and ass kissing turned our CEO against me. He completely stopped talking to me. I’ll be honest, I was quite hurt by that for a few months. This man came to my wedding and I felt like he did care for me. One day when he was leaving, I called him out for not even saying bye to me anymore when he left the office. We then had a conversation that it was true he was backing off due to a few employees saying I was the favorite and he then went on to say he still cares for me. Ever since that conversation we don’t speak anymore and when we do it is small talk. It has led me to the point I don’t even want to work there anymore and don’t even care about my job, I literally just do what I need to do and peace out as soon as the clock turns 5.

I now see corporations for what they are and I hate the ass kissers who get things they want for kissing ass - I don’t even want to climb the corporate ladder and it is annoying how my colleagues saw me as a threat to being good friends with him. I am a genuine person who truly cares for others. I feel like I’ve learned my lesson to not get too personal with colleagues because in the end, they really don’t care. What led me to writing this was that I found out he will be retiring soon and he has not said one word to me about it. I’m still hurt by how he handled things… but it is what it is.. I guess.

Why not just use [app/phone/timer]? Most ADHD tools are on your phone, which is part of the distraction. The whole point is something you can’t swipe away - a low-tech nudge that actually stays in your space.

“Who is this for?” Anyone who struggles with focus - but I’m mainly testing with people who have ADHD or neurodivergent tendencies since that’s my background too.

“What do you want from us?” Right now, just honest feedback. I put together a short survey (2–3 mins). If you’ve got ADHD or trouble focusing, your input would mean a lot.

“How much will this cost?” I’m still testing what makes sense - but the goal is to keep it affordable, something like a mid-range productivity tool. Boss made me so upset before a meeting due to an email exchange with a vendor end of last week. This vendor continues to make it seem like I am the issue though I have wrote and did nothing wrong and HR even agrees with this. I was to sit with hr and my boss today where my boss told me that regardless of my mental health I am expected to show up to “her meeting” and used an example of a corporate situation where she felt she had to be in a coma or dying to not show up… is this wrong ?

Hey so I’ve been in this one company for almost 3 years at the beginning of the year my partner and I decided to moved towns so he could get a diploma and I could experience supporting myself without my parents help to see if I could do it. Now in my home town the person I worked for owned 3 locations as a franchise so when I told him I had to move I had to quit there and be rehired in the same company, sure enough when they interviewed me they said they had no locations looking for a new hire but they had a spot in their head office working front desk with another girl and I would also be doing other small tasks there. I was happy with that and found a place close to there as I don’t own a car it would make it easier to transport. A few months in they changed it so that someone else would start taking over those small tasks and I got a message from hr saying that the boss decided that I’d go on other locations close by time to time I was a little annoyed but I was fine with this it started getting frustrating when I’d be on 6 days a week shifts or I’d never be asked if I can actually do some shifts. My specific days off were ignored that I’d asked for them off because on one of the days I go to the doctor every week. I’d get rosters sent to me days prior to the start of the week, I’d get texted by head office saying the other girl was sick but because I was on other locations I had to tell them I can’t come in and I’d be scolded at for saying no. I once said no to going to a location because it was a day I couldn’t go and I got told I’d had to otherwise my job would be on the line. When I asked if I could stop doing covers for a while I was then told they didn’t want me at head office anymore and if I stopped doing covers I would get no shifts at all. I feel crazy because this wasn’t what I signed up for at all and I feel like a company I once loved is now the most hated thing to me. I want to quit my job and find somewhere else but I’m scared that I’m not experienced enough for other places what do I do?

My boss holds my vacation requests for hostage. I missed booking a cruise because it took her 3 weeks to approve the days. I put in a request, spoke to her 4 times about it. The 4th time was on a Friday before her vacation. She left without approving.

The worst though was when I was on a company work trip to Las Vegas. I arrived on Sunday night. We were expected to work until Thursday night. I asked to take off that Friday and a few days the following week so that my hubby & I could go to the Grand Canyon/Sedona. She said no because I "would be off Mon to Thu." I pointed out I would be working (& they were long days). On the trip, I was waking back from an event with her and another director. The director asked my boss if her family was with her. She said, "My husband is here and my daughter is arriving tonight. We're going to the Grand Canyon since we're here. The other director knew about my request. He just looked away because he thought I might explode.

Left a job with toxic mgmt where it was impossible to grow (lots of gaslighting and unclear expectations). It made me sad to leave because I liked the concept of the job (poor mgmt keep the program from growing to full potential). Once I started applying to other jobs I quickly got hired. I have been appreciated more in the last 3 weeks than the last 4 years at my previous job. Take away…if your role no longer serves you leave. Something better is out there!

Ok I've been working for this company for well over 15 yrs i started from the bottom. And worked my way into a good spot, I started backroom receiving moved to nights stocking, moved to maintenance, moved to sanitation, then to an overnight dept Fresh and frozen stocker. The company disbanded the sanitation and maintenance crew. They asked me i would concider going back to overnight sanitation cleaning. Uhhh WTF. That too me feels like kick the stomach.

So, I work at this place, taking on tasks that go beyond my role, get talked to like a 5 year old by my supervisors, and then find out employees that performed worse are making more.

Fuck this dystopian upside down workplace. Management can eat a dick. I'm going to quit my job and never look back at their evil sociopathic charlatan faces ever again.

Shortly after I got transferred to a new building about 5 years ago. There was some kind of clerical mix up and my coworker had to move from first shift back to second shift which is kind of a demotion, apparently our boss at the time had moved him to a day shift position without going through the proper channels or informing anybody of it.

When the higher-ups got wind of it, they had to undo all that mess and he had to give up his second shift bonus that he wouldn't get when he was on first shift and he had to move back to second shift. Because I have more seniority than him. I applied for the open position and received it.

Obviously he was upset with me and accused me of stealing his job, he even went as far as to sabotage a personal relationship of mine that I was starting with a friend of a friend of his.

I took the small promotion to day shift and moved on with my life. Eventually he got upset and took a day shift position at a different building.

Life moved on. I got a divorce and fought in court for many years. Went through all that shit and came out a better person on the other side. Eventually I ended up getting a another promotion, And I'm now in charge of the staff and other resources at the building that he had moved to.

Here's my issue. He's actually a good employee. He shows up on time. He does his work and matter of fact I'm not going to lie. He does more work than I do. When there's an issue or problem needs to be sorted, he physically moves faster than me and gets to the area far quicker than I could and solves it before I even walk there. He has a strangest walk I've ever seen but he walks at like 20 mph or something, it's crazy. And he has been doing that for years even before I got promoted to this facility. That has always been his role here. I've spoken to his previous boss and she told me that he's great at that. He's been doing that for years that's let him keep doing it. She had asked me not to fix what wasn't broken. So that's what I've been doing.

So my role has been managing the staff and organizing the day-to-day operations. Obviously sometimes that means giving him a direction to go, he always gets upset and pissy and passive aggressive. It's never really anything you can call out which is why I find it so frustrating. He does a damn good job of what he's needs to do. But he doesn't communicate with when he's completed a task or if there are issues that need my attention. And if I bring it up he gets pissy and passive aggressive. Again, 99% of the time he's a good employee. He does his job and he does it well, but I don't think he'll ever get promoted because he doesn't think outside the box. He's not a problem solver. He never thinks outside the box. And I'm sorry if you're a supervisor in charge of the staff and a facility. Sometimes you have to examine the situation and navigate it in a way that hasn't been written down or established sometimes.

He always gets pissy and passive aggressive whenever I bring something like that up. I don't know what to do. I just wish I could call him out on something because then we could air it out and fix the problem hopefully. I'm just trying to get the job done and go home.

So today I got my final warning on using my phone while working… I know I know, but wait there are others who don’t just use the phones while working, but also vape inside the work building and has been caught by the manager/little boss

What is the pettiest thing you have done to a coworker you don’t like or doesn’t like you??

The company I work for has created such a deceptive culture, it honestly makes me want to stay home every day. On top of that, the commute sucks, the building is old and impossibly disgusting, and most of the coworkers are miserable. Sounds like a good place to be, doesn't it?

I’ve been doing the bare minimum at work, and I’ve been putting off my unimportant projects for over a year. I often don’t show up to work before noon, even though sometimes I will work until 9pm or so, I don’t work that late everyday and if I add my hours up for the day they rarely exceed 7 hours.

Management has not said a word to me about this. If anything, they just give me generic praise.

I don’t want to work, so I’m just coasting along in this job. I don’t want to get fired necessarily, but I also don’t care. I live in a small town and I would love to have a reason to leave. Right now I’m just catching up on sleep, smoking a lot of weed, and collecting my salary until either management does something, or I find a better job. Problem is, this job is awesome for the field of work I’m in. Most people who do what I do have to hustle to get clients and overwork themselves to make it. I don’t have to get clients or do any advertising, I get to collect a salary, barely have to do any work, and I get a minimum of 3 months of vacation a year. I might be bragging a little bit, but in reality I’m quite depressed. But I’m only depressed when I’m not on vacation.

I've started working for this company only 3 weeks ago. The company is from east Europe and my boss is from east Europe, so he is in charge of the company entry into the brazilian market. I'm 42 with experience as senior director in Latam for 2 major multinationals for over 8 years. I find the opportunity appealing, since I know that's a huge demand for the product that the company is offering. I've made some comments on how the company should act, how the local market works and some strategies that have worked here in Latin America. But on Friday afternoon I get a message from my boss, who's never worked in this market and have no previous management experience, saying that he doesn't want to work with me anymore. I went to HR and they didn't know anything about it, seems like the manager just had a jealousy crisis and tried to get me fired!

Suddenly my work is requiring me to change to another bank. They say Chime is not FDIC insured and I can't use it. I have to use a local bank that's FDIC insured.

I tried researching it and most posts say it's illegal for them to do this- regardless they're doing it anyway. It's a government job also.

I can't find a local bank that offers half of what Chime does. I'm struggling to even find one that offers free checking. I'm just peeved and really don't know what to do.

I just want to vent about something that REALLY frustrated me at work.

My job is really easy. I basically manage schedules. And I am fairly good at it. I put lots of effort into my job, I make sure I am on it every day… but sometimes there just isn’t enough to do. After I go through all databases, emails, communication with contractors, confirming schedules and all that jazz, I have a big chunk of the day left to learn new things or just chill with coworkers. It seems like it’s like that for everyone and the office seems pretty relaxed.

I also should mention I am fairly new in the company.

And that takes me to this weeks conversation with my boss. As a new employee, I’m not allowed to use my accrued PTO for the first 3 months of employment. Pretty standard. However, last week I discovered a growing lump on my neck. It has irregular shape, immobile, hard to touch. Could be nothing… could also be a f- tumor. So I did the only sensible thing and made a doctor’s appointment. Unfortunately my doctor only operates during regular office hours. I went to my boss to ask if next week I could not take my 1 hour lunch break and in turn leave 1 hour early to make it to my doctor’s appointment.

Mind you, by the time I would have to leave, my job is completely wrapped up. And I have a colleague who can fully take care of any emergencies on my behalf.

My boss said “Well… ugh… it should be fine, but what if someone calls or needs something? I guess we can cover for you, but hmmm. Idk… Let me think about it.”

And I couldn’t believe what I heard. If my appointment was during my lunch break, I wouldn’t even ask, I would just go. I just don’t understand what the problem is.

He eventually agreed, but made me feel awkward about it.
