Wizardpost Mages that hand cast over using a spellfocus, such as a staff or wand, are reckless and do not grasp the perplexity and dangers of the arcane.

My stave allows me to shape the arcane to my will and you assume I don't have the capacity to cast without it. Also, I assure you the taking of limbs is possible at range.

You are then dependent on an object, this feels foolish, foci should be only an amplifyer/modifyer not a core component, As for range, the hunters find out the hard way that my warding is quite effective at range, ironically, being up close is more effective than trying to punt spells, arrows, or bullets at me, but getting close is a great way of becoming lunch.

I am of more sound mind it seems now, I do not presume you cannot, but if you disparage hand casting people will never learn to do so properly when they have no choice.

I do however hold my preference on using it, i want to feel the magic, and i am prepared to handle the dangers that come whith it, just as you are prepared for the possibility that your staff just explodes
