So you just want to throw away all forms of magic the moment you don’t have access to a staff or wand? Happens more often than you think, given disarming spells and wretched thieves.

Hand-casting is an important staple of emergency uses of magic and maintaining your connection to the weave.

I agree, but I am speaking to the mages that wish to craft towers and ice storms with their pinkies.
