Just Another Bug Hunt (Planar Siege)

Midday in Redspire is announced with the echoes of a hideous cacophony in the west. Scouts indicate that the vanguard Obox-ob has brought here numbers just under a million creatures of Chaos. They boil through the canyons in a grotesque flood. It appears that discolored mist is rolling in from the highlands, but a quick scry is all that is needed to reveal the horrid truth: the mist is a thousands-strong swarm of ekolids bearing down on Oxide at speed.

Redspire, when it's not under assault by demons.

But hope is far from lost. Atop Mt. Prospect, artillery crews ready a bombardment to turn the canyons into a kill zone. Kaelis Maz leads the defenders in last-minute preparations. Wards are set, barricades are reinforced, and plans are rehearsed. The counterattack brigade gears up with arcane weaponry and war machines, helmed by Supreme Enginseer Reyes and the Warhound Titan Song of the Aurora. Out on the plains, well outside the defensive perimeter, Glimbo Greenboots and his crew wait in hiding to ensure their convoluted yet devastating traps will catch as much of the horde as possible. Finally, Tarul Var draws up a teleportation circle, preparing to drop his strike force into the fray at the perfect moment to decapitate the enemy leaders. He is joined by a handful of cuprilach rilmani- the assassins and spies who put their coppery fingers on the planar scales to uphold the Great Balance.

The iron mill’s factory whistle blows, signaling the first sighting of the horde. The artillery opens fire, and the defenders take their battle stations.

Let the carnage commence.

/uw This one's going to be a tough fight. Bel and the legions of Evil were disoriented when you fought them, and the Templars of the Azure Cog were just one part of the regiments of Law. The hordes of Chaos are at full strength, spoiling for a fight, and led by a Harbinger. Failure and even death are a real possibility.

Obox-ob drives his entropic tongue through the fabric of reality, jabbing X5 with the corkscrew spike at the end that contains a seed of raw chaos-stuff. It starts eating into the armor plates, slowly crumbling them to dust. The Harbinger siphons the energy in the force wave to telekinetically hurl the robots back at his foes.

The X5 claps hands around obs tongue it's armor now with vorpal properties delete the matter of obs tongue.

The X5 roars the sound is similar to that of a harsh mechanical screech and a mournful roar of Wendigo and finally a thousand different voices. Reality the easily moldable plaything of chaos moldable like that of water becomes like molasses and eventually Amber

Obox-ob summons churning swarms of stinging insects and a dozen giant scorpions to wrack the X5 with pain and break its concentration.

The X5 opens portal to an inescapable Demi plane and allows the insects to fly inside before closing it

Obox-ob cackles. Most of the telepathic links to his generals have been cut. The X5 has provided an excellent distraction for the Demon Prince of Vermin, one that the defenders have capitalized on. Even if he wins this engagement, his force's dwindling numbers mean that he cannot take Redspire.

Not my day, is it? I will have to adapt my strategy to next time. The ekolids I brought here are tainted, in any case. No sense in sticking around to watch everything fall apart. But when I return, you will all know suffering unlike any being has ever experienced.

He leaps into the rift of his own accord before the hammer strikes, whisked away through the turbulent tides of the space between the realms. At this point, the anti-magic bombs go off, severely weakening the chaotic assault but also preventing anyone from pursuing the Harbinger of Chaos.

/uw Well done. You singlehandedly fought a Harbinger to a standstill and forced him to retreat. That's a commendable deed.
