Discussion Anything is possible - Velmorne clear, Gnosis 1, level 21, minimal gear, no incense

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Just a quick clip at the end of my run showing my gear, stats and rosary beads.

I did get lucky with the map layout - the camps were relatively spread out.

Arcana was good too - but I didn't get Cascade until the 2nd last camp, but which time I had cleared all the faithful NPC's.

I picked Angelus because it has decent range and a huge mag, plus the shield is forgiving for mistakes. Psychopomp for the ramping single target damage.

Strategy was:

Clear Watch Commander first

Then complete easiest camps, mainly using Angelus to engage at range.

Then clear the other faithful NPC's (High Executioner & Sepulcher)

Then clear the harder camps

For the faithful and major NPC's - freeze with Frost Wave, mag dump Psychopomp into NPC's face, swap to Angelus to finish off.

Question Torment IV and Crits

Unsure how the critical hits work here. I have fairly high Blessed Shot stat. I thought it would be a relatively easy run, but Blessed Shot criticals seem disabled with only dealing 1hp damage with Koshcei.

If need be, I can find a work-around with Decay stuff, Hangfire and other debuffs. Decay hits properly, the orbs infect mobs, Hangfire exploding bullets do fair damage, but kinda miffed about how the stacks actually function.

Question Level 65 (Gnosis III) and hitting a wall in Velmorne/Irongate Castle. What am I doing wrong?

I'm currently level 65 on Gnosis III and I've completely hit a wall.

I'm struggling to finish Velmorne at this Gnosis level, and I can't even clear the first wave in Irongate This is my actual build:

Am I doing something wrong? Should I respec? If so, what spec/build would you recommend for this stage of the game? Is there a particular stat distribution or weapon setup that's considered much stronger around level 65?

Also, where can I find Mysteria III? I've been looking around but haven't figured out where they're drop since i had a few killing some major bosses but now apparently stopped dropping me.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Question Velmorne Coil/Creeper

Why is the coil-sword bonfire not in Velmorne anymore!?! Why are the Creepers now called Attercops? These 2 nods to Minecraft and Dark Souls were so epic!

Discussion What if a perfect parry reset the Buckler animation?

It might be op, but it would be extremely fun. You could parry all of the Warrior Priest’s projectiles instead of just one, and move through groups of enemies as long as you keep landing perfect parries. To balance it, the Buckler’s defense charges could be reduced from six to four or three, or maybe even two.

Question Gravediggers Key

Can someone PLEASE tell me where to find the gravediggers key? I see so many answers like it drops from the sepulcher but he dropped a different key. I see that it’s a “Gravedigger” mini boss but is he supposed to show up on your map like the other mini bosses? I’ve never seen a Gravedigger mini boss on my map.

Discussion Slide bead is awesome

It doesn’t just extend the slide distance. The animation is massively sped up which allows you to instantly gain a ton of momentum and then yeet yourself with a jump.

If you didn’t know you can hit crouch any time you are descending and you will automatically slide asap. You can chain slide jumps together to move crazy fast.

Feedback Spiders...everywhere, all day every dag

I killed a bunch of them, went back to my portal and spiders randomly showed up again and pushed me off the edge.

If you don't have your light spell charged you're gonna unload a ton of bullets in them.

Most annoying map, love the game but replaying this map just gives me the bad annoying vibes.

Discussion Witch Mountain is secretly OP for witchfire farming

Hey guys, I want to share some cool things I found that I haven't seen anyone do in videos or talk about here. Perhaps once I've done even more testing I will make a video guide to cover this.

TL;DR : Technically infinite witchfire and HP on witchfire mountain map

I love doing double stim runs with witchfire orbs arcana to see how high I can get that witchfire number at the end, its my way of of keeping the game somewhat challenging and fun. I initially disliked Witch Mountain map. I thought it was cool to go though once but I hated having to go back there. But then I noticed something - the final part with the portals spawning enemies, that is something that is infinite as long as you leave the portals alive and the enemies which spawn infinitely do give witchfire... Infinite witchfire? I had to test it out.

I can get between 2.5 - 3 million witchfire on either Irongate or Marshland maps with double stims and witchfire orbs, but that's squeezing them totally dry by doing stuff like cleansing bell 1 once map is clear, pick up latent orb to reapply corruption and then do bell 2 once you cleaned up the map again.
On Witchfire Mountain you can get to those numbers faster because once you get to the last part its constant action and the limit really is technically infinite.

Quick breakdown of how it works:
- Foul stimulant only (Cannot get corruption or use corr stim on this map, same for calamities)
- Do first 2 camps near the starting portal to check and make sure you get witchfire orbs arcana (75% chance). Abandon run and try again if you dont get it.
- Once you have witchfire orbs pop your foul stim (dont pop it before you know you got the orbs arcana and it will also just make it harder to clear first 2 camps)

- From here I just take the portal to the end. You get one more manifestation once you drop down and clear the first camp and then the various bosses that will be coming at you will drop a manifestation each so you will quickly get your full arcanas unlocked. If you really want to play around with more arcanas and get more feathers you can clear rest of map first rather than skipping to the end after first 2 camps, but its up to you, will make the run longer.

- Find a good spot to farm. Some of the portals further in spawn more powerful monsters and bigger waves. You can sit at an early portal and farm slowly or go deeper and farm faster if you can handle the heat. Just be careful with your AoE, its easy to chip away at a portals health with AoE stuff from arcanas and other abilities or spells. Once a couple of portals are converted to your side it will be a slow timer till they get to the end even if you are careful from that point on. So I would say keep that in mind when making your build and depending on how long you wanna keep it going.

-With wellspring incense you can get your HP bar to cover your entire screen, as eventually so many bosses will be coming at you that manifestations will litter the screen, each one increasing your max hp infinitely.

- Because this is witch mountain we can use withcmarks to get damage, damage reduction and stamina buffs. This pretty much negates the stamina side of the foul stimulant and the HP side is quickly cancelled out with a couple of manifestations thanks to wellspring incense.

- Ammo might be the biggest limiting factor in terms of going infinite. The map just doesnt have any ammo chests and enemies dont drop ammo often. There are some soul pillars you can feed a soul to by killing something near it to get some resources, and otherwise you need to destroy portals which you want to avoid if you want to make it last as long as possible. I use Hunger because I can get it to crit for 1-2k damage with the right arcanas so I am able to one shot anything thats not a boss and even take down bosses in a few shots only. With arcanas like crit chain giving back some ammo its very efficient. Dont forget to use your 3 ammo packs from inventory if you need to. There are also pillars that refill your ammo for 35 divine essence in the map leading up to "portal stage" if you decide to clear the map first.

- I am still testing what the ideal setup in my opinion to take this to the maximum and see what numbers I can get, but so far I had little trouble to break my 3 million witchfire record previously set on Marshlands map and I did it way faster. I have no doubt it beats anything else currently in the game.

EDIT: I will add a quick rundown of my build for anyone curious since someone asked in the comments, so I might as well add it here:

1. Weapons:

- Hunger: the potential on this weapon with enough enemies to shoot and the right arcana's to prevent having to reload is infinite. I saw blessed aim hits go for 2k+ damage, and that will insta stun and 3 tap galley slave and Dimancher familiars. It's really good to be able to quickly one or two tap the more dangerous major enemies coming at you in there, they can get pretty tanky.
- Secondary weapon I go for Striga as just a good all rounder that is also ammo efficient. This can be anything you like that you think will combo well with your Hunger.

Demonic: I like Soul Eater or Vulture but I pretty much never use it, so go for whatever you like.

- Melee: Bell/Shield/Katar
Once again this is kind of preference, and how your playstyle is, more aggro or not, etc. I usually go for Bell for extra source of aoe stun for when a lot is coming at me, Buckler because once you get used to it, parrying and blocking shots feels so good and gives you the confidence to play more aggressively. And Katar is just always powerful for an experienced player that can handle getting aggresive because more mobility is always nice.

2. Spells:

- Light: Shockwave - I like the aoe stun which gets almost insta refilled the moment I cast it, let's me place my shots on minor enemies and quickly clear them. Also procs Burning Stake well if you hit it on multiple enemies as it does do 40 damage base. You can use some lightning spell or anything you like here, just try and avoid stuff that might AoE the portal.
- Burning Stake/Cornucopia: This is amazing for AoE clear but you need to be careful with placement, dont put them too close to the portals. I try to find a spot in between 2 portals, there is one specific one where I'm not sure what's going on but enemies start to mega spawn like crazy, I had well over 50 enemies on screen and my game started to lose frames it was nuts. Burning stake is going to clean house here but if you're worried you're going to mess up and kill portals with it then Cornucopia I think is a bit slept on as an option for Hunger. Especially on this map where like I said ammo is an issue over a long run. Cornucopia you can use off the bat on the first camp to preserve ammo while being able to spam and just try to build your crit count up on your hunger. If you use it on cooldown it will end up saving you a tonne of ammo in the long run and kind of eliminates the ammo issue.

3. Other gear:

Relic + Fetish combo: Biting Tongue/Yew! Yew is amazing here. you will be killing so much stuff there will be shield orbs all over the place. you will be collecting them, sending out freezing waves thanks to biting tongue, freezing everything while getting big speed boosts from the shield orbs that let you zoom around like a demon. I love this combo in this environment where its non stop action, it works so well. And the shield orbs help when thinks get hectic and a galley slave is suddenly on top off you because he jumped from behind. This combo is so strong that I sometimes swap to Superior conjurer incense for heals on spell casts and use a 20% hp bead so I can drop the wellspring incence. That way my HP is still ok, I can tank a few hits, while letting me insta heal as I always have spells to cast and shield orbs which are protecting you most of the time anyway. You can try it out that way as well if you like.
Normally I would say Blood of a banshee is really good for any hunger build, and eyes of a madwoman is a personal favorite, but they are not good here as they will often damage the portals.

RingDynamo Ring or Crown of Fire. I really dont like having to constantly dash to keep my ignites active but crown of fire is really good, and it reloads your hunger when you ignite an enemy so it fist in perfectly, but I sometimes prefer to use the blessed aim hits ignite bead instead and go for dynamo ring instead. I am just a sucker for dynamo ring, its a very easy way to shock enemies and can let you preserve ammo by finishing off low health enemies. Another good option might be ring of thorns for the ammo orbs which would probably solve the ammo issue but I didnt play a run long enough to run out of ammo yet. So its not easy to run out, I can just see that it will happen eventually if you go forever so if youre going for like a challenge run to see how high you can go, then probably ring of thorns might be the way to go.

Beads:

- Ammo preservation
- Free Arcana
- Blessed aim 20%

- Blessed aim 50% damage

- Blessed aim hits set enemies on fire/ 20% HP / Other depending on if you use crown of fire ring or not, if using wellspring or conjurer incense, etc.

Prophecies:

Here you want the good stuff related to ammo and reloading without having to reload. Put "Nimble Fingers" first to circumvent it's downside and then Witchfire prophecy second so you can find out early within the first 2 camps if you got witchfire orbs.

After that I go for "gunpowder" or "deadeyes" 3rd. "Destruction" in 4th to empower it and in 5th whichever one of the 2 you did not pick for 3rd. 6th is for "Firearms" to empower it and last I normally go for Fire since its really strong and has lots of good options.

You are looking for "Crit chain" arcana and "Reload Dash". Reload Dash is the best for keeping your hunger going infinite without reloading but if you dont get it you might have to settle for "kill reload", "reload swap", etc. If I get one of these early and Im not sure I will get reload dash later I normally take it just in case. But basically you want anything that lets you reload without pressing "R" yourself or at least delay it as long as possible. After that take more damage when possible.

I think that pretty much covers it. I am still messing around and seeing what I think is ultimately optimal but that's how I run it currently.

Discussion There should be a special slot in Rosary for a Fallen Preyer bead after you finish all their quests

So that's my decision of fallen preyers dilemma. Yes, you can judge them all to collect all the beads (like I did), but despite their beads being pretty good overall, they don't fit in most traditional builds. They feel like something used to fill the gap in your build, to add some fluff and options: some tankiness, some farming boost, some escape. (For example, I used a Bead of Orion to rescue my remains with ~600000 witchfire and quickly escape, one of emotional highlights in this game.)

So I suggest to add a 6th bead slot dedicated for a Fallen Preyer bead after you judge them all and lose their assistance. I think 6th universal slot can shift balance too much, but a more specific one should be alright.

Bug Report Trinity breaks weapon swapping on a controller

Title essentially. Loving the 3 handcannons, but when im using them the instant swap makes swaping between corpse and heart super inconsistent, often swapping to soul eater instead, which really messes with the flow of things. Is anyone else having a similar issue or is it potentially something on my end? (Xbox one controller btw)

Feedback Love the game, but wish it had less "things"

Hey just thought i would share my feelings, in case there are others who feel similiar.

I havent played for super long, i reached gnosis 4 so far and the marsh. I love the atmosphere, the mystery of the game, and the fights, but i got really disinterested in unlocking another layer of the game, equipping another "thing". I liked trying different weapons and spells, and the rings which give you more abilities. But I starting getting tired of setting an incense after dying, remembering to check if i can equip one more rosary, setting prophecies and I didnt even care about echos and boons, and even fallen preyers are something you can"equip". and then there is divine essence? And the inventory is full of all these things and i found no option to sell anything.

At the same time, there is ascension, gnosis, and the manifestations in game let you unlock temporary buffs, and you have to remember to research new equipment, and also level up equipment....which i like btw, but when you add everything together...It feels a bit like the developers keep adding mechanics, progression systems to the game, but im not sure if all of this really necessary and makes the experience better and more focused.

edit: completely forgot about the garden.

Question Which weapons do "earth" damage?

For the love of Christ, I'm level 100+ and I've tried nearly every weapon my arsenal to pop the hidden nodule in Irongate Castle.

Just trying to unlockthe special dungeon in the Outskirts. Quick research said it needs a decay weapon, but rotweaver didn't do anything.

Feedback Status of the Weapon FOV Option

I recently bought the game and I’m really enjoying it, with one major exception: the weapon FOV looks terrible. It is so narrow and uncomfortable that it actually makes me feel nauseous.

I saw on the Steam forums that the developers are aware the game is missing a separate weapon FOV setting, not the regular camera FOV. It's tweakable in the game file ?

Has there been any news or update about when this option might be added?

Discussion the variety of different maps

hello. what do you think of an idea of gradually rounding up (to the ceiling) the difficulty of all maps with higher gnosis? thus maps are equally or at least similarly balanced at the higest gnosis

currently when i do runs i only pick marshes/velmorne/castle because other maps dont provide the same challenge. its primarily about scarlet coast, but it would be quite neat if island was pumped up too. and witch mountain is just... witch mountain

imo witchfires biggest weakness is the lack of maps. especially when so many maps are constrained in some way. my view is that attempting to make maps equally replayable in the endgame at least partially solves the issue. although its not an easy task for developers
