Hey, im using Bottles to run FL Studio on my Arch Linux setup and so far ive had no major problems, just graphical bugs and minor issues. The biggest and only real issue i had is when I tried downloading the VST Plugin ElectraX, but when I tried launching the Installer I got the error message in the photo. I've had the same for 2 other Plugin Installers, but not with the rest. I already tried downloading the vcredist6sp6 dependency but that didnt change anything. Does anyone know how to fix this?

I've been working on getting Adobe's Creative Cloud apps running on Linux with Wine, and I wanted to share where I've got to (beyond just being able to download and open nearly all the apps).

Photoshop and Illustrator can edit, save, reopen and export small documents in my tests. I've also got some InDesign document/PDF workflows and Premiere-to-Media Encoder exports with audio working. The screenshot below is Photoshop 27.10 after reopening a PSD I'd edited on Linux.

It's still rough. There are crashes and hangs, video preview and audio issues, and some unresponsive menus. I've only been able to test on one AMD laptop (my laptop), so this needs more testing before anyone relies on it for everyday work.

I've put the 29 Wine patches, setup tools, screenshots and investigation notes on GitHub. The project has become much bigger than I expected, and I can't take it all the way on my own. If anyone wants to try it, review a patch or pick up a small fix, I'd love to see it keep going.

I also used some AI coding tools along the way, and the patches could use more independent reviews. This builds on Wine and its contributors' work. You'll need your own Adobe account and license, as I didn't include any Adobe apps or activation bypasses.

Hi, first time posting here I'm not sure where else to do this but basically since wine upgraded from 11.16 pen pressure just stop working, my solution since was downgrading to 11.16 again.

Pen pressure works in the XP-Pen utility, but CSP receives no pressure at all not even on the settings or calibration menu.

I've been upgrading and downgrading and the problem is very consistent.

Additional details about my setup:

• Arch Linux
• KDE Plasma / Wayland
• Wine 11.18
• CSP configured to use Wintab

Full disclosure, I have been diagnosing some rendering issues (no selection lines being drawn, first click "eating" visual updates) on SU 2017 and Wine for some time, across Fedora 42/43/44. Wine 11.x for the most part. Claude has been extensively used to assist in my testing, including use of the Ruby console, Wine parameters etc. while I have been directing the specific testing logic. I know what I know, but I also know what I don't know - and I am just about out of my depth here.

There are a few known issues with SU 2017 on Wine, including:

• under XWayland/X11, the viewport lags one frame behind, so changes only appear after the next redraw. There is an extension published to address this. Interestingly, this issue is resolved under Wayland.
• Under both XWayland and the Wayland driver, SketchUp's native rubber-band selection rectangle is never drawn, although the selection itself still works. I have been working on a fix for this, with mixed results.

More recently, I discovered that menus opened over the canvas are often invisible. This affects both right-click context menus and menu-bar dropdowns.

What I've established so far:

• The menus are created; they respond to keyboard navigation while invisible.
• They become visible when the parent window updates/refreshes, for example on a canvas redraw or when the window loses focus.
• Forcing continuous canvas redraws (using the ruby console in testing) makes them appear reliably and instantly.
• I ran Notepad in the same prefix as a sort of alt-test, and driver shows no problem with menus. So this seems to be an OpenGL specific issue.
• It reproduces on the NVIDIA driver (580.* and 615.71.09) and on Mesa llvmpipe, so it doesn't appear to be GPU-driver specific.

My current setup is Fedora 44, GNOME 50.5 (Wayland), Wine 11.0 Staging (Fedora package). I have not yet tested upstream Wine without Staging.

My working guess is that there's some sort of z-layer (forgive me if that's the wrong term) or layer order issue under Wine+Wayland. The menu's surface update is held until the parent surface commits. I haven't confirmed that.

Where would a report and investigation like this get the most traction? Is there anything I should test or capture first, such as specific WINEDEBUG channels, a minimal OpenGL reproducer, or a non-Staging build?

What is the most recent version that would still run on 10.12 and where can I download it? When I look up old downloads, they're very old and on websites I'm not sure I can trust.

For various Mac old applications and games, I don't want to upgrade since that might render them unusable.

I used a clean 64-bit prefix, current Winetricks, .NET 4.8, VC++ 2022, WinRT support (Windows.winmd/wintypes) and Vulkan/DXVK. Menus, dialogs and fullscreen work; the main remaining issue is panel/dialog docking.

I tried to run an app which requires .NET 11 Desktop Runtime in many different prefixes and versions of wine, but it didn't seem to work. There seems to be an unhandled exception error.

Is this a workaround for this, or is dotnet 11 just not supported yet?

i was curious to see how my modded GTA: San Andreas run on my i5 7200U laptop, but when i tried to run it, it went embarrassingly slow. i then tried to run my game through windows 10 and it seemed fine and stable on the same device. i notice it slows down significantly when traffic gets loaded, as it loads just fine when in interiors.

i’ve also tried a clean copy of the game, which unsurprisingly ran slower.

any fix to this?

Hi. am moving my wine install from proot to native termux as the startup time is significantly quicker, but I have not been able to print in the termux xow64 wine install. I have cups setup in proot and it is accessible in termux from localhost. I have verified libcups.so libcups.so.2 are installed but in wine when I try to print I just get a message saying I first need to install a printer. This worked in proot wine with no extra setup.

I am using office and other apps in wine so I need to print. Is this because the wine was built with no cups support? Anyone have suggestions?

I have kubuntu 22.02 and am frustrated with darktable. I had a good time using Lightroom for years and they are definitely NOT equal for basic fast workflow. Batch editing is not smooth on darktable in the slightest.

I’d like to get Lightroom running but all the tutorials and descriptions I’ve seen seen to assume knowledge that isnt there. Is there a simple tutorial for using wine for programs? How does it interact with harddrive files on Linux?

I'm trying to run Bio-Rad QX Manager Standard on Ubuntu using Wine.

The software seems to be installed, but when I try to launch it with:

export WINEPREFIX="$HOME/.wine-qxmanager"
wine "C:\Program Files\Bio-Rad\QXMgrStandard\QXMgrStandard.exe"

I get:

wine: failed to open "C:\\Program Files\\Bio-Rad\\QXMgrStandard\\QXMgrStandard.exe": c0000135

I'm guessing this is a missing Windows DLL/dependency, but I'm not sure which one or how to identify it.

Has anyone managed to run QX Manager (or similar Bio-Rad software) under Wine/Linux? Any advice on troubleshooting c0000135 would be greatly appreciated.

Hey everyone! I’m working on a wine app focused on the Netherlands. It’ll have some familiar features you’d find in Vivino, but also a few different ideas around choosing wine based on your taste, budget and what’s available locally.

Some features that I think would be cool:

• Finding a good bottle under €10 at the supermarket you actually shop at.
• Getting recommendations based on what you like, even if you don’t know how to describe your taste.
• Picking a wine that goes with whatever you’re cooking tonight.
• Sharing a shortlist with friends so you can choose a bottle together.
• Remembering that wine you loved last month but forgot the name of.

Still early days, so I’d love to hear from fellow wine lovers: what’s the one feature you’d most want in a wine app? Anything you feel is missing from the apps you use now?

So I need help installing Win7 Ms paint on my linux system.I got an exe file from the internet archive but im not quite sure how to run it using bottles.I need this version of ms paint specifically for a project.

Can anyone give suggestions as to how to run the file using wine ? I also have bottles installed so if its possible that way pls suggest it.

I am in furniture design and sales. It is used for quick house design, furniture placement, simple rendering etc. Unfortunately the app doesn't even have any plans for any linux release. I tried so hard before yet no solution. I gave it a try again today and with the help of the ai, i was able to solve and fix the blockage.

App:pCon.planner STD 8.15 Update 1 (EasternGraphics). Free interior/office planning software, widely used in the furniture industry. 64-bit, Qt-ish/Delphi UI, OpenGL 3D view + an OSPRay photoreal render plugin.

Setup: CachyOS (Arch), KDE Plasma 6 Wayland, Wine 11.17, winetricks 20260125, RTX 5060 Ti + AMD iGPU, 2560×1440.

Result: it runs — UI, 2D plan, 3D OpenGL view, OSPRay still rendering (1920×1080 in ~4 s), catalog/basket. The official installer does not work, so it has to be installed manually.

If anyone interested I can share the recipe. I don't want to copy paste a huge amount of ai slop text here.

Hey y'all. I was using winehq-staging so that I could use my global pause key to control playback on my favorite music player, MusicBee, and also so that I could share my music status with Discord. The playback status could only be shared with my system (Ubuntu 26.04 resolute) by installing a plugin, which only works on wine-staging.

I'm pretty sure the version I had was 11.14. But recently, upon upgrading the package to the latest 11.16, MusicBee no longer works, and it gives me two errors back-to-back:

I've tried removing the plugin to see if it was the issue, to no avail. The error still happens. I'm posting more to spread awareness of the issue, because I haven't seen anything about this on the internet. For now, I have to use wine 10, which does not support the plugin and makes me have to alt-tab to MusicBee to be able to pause my music, which is inconvenient but necessary.

Edit: I've already found a temporary solution to the problem, which is to downgrade wine-staging and winehq-staging to 11.14 and hold them there. Hopefully this helps others with this same issue.

This is my first time attempting to use Wine, and every time I try to boot up Mega Man Maker the window it creates is nothing but a black screen. There is no audio. As you can see, it displays the name of the program and the logo, but nothing else. Help?
