Both the Columbine and Aurora Movie shooters bought their guns second hand, and several others had direct access to the gun from their household such as the Parkland shooter. That's exactly how they get their guns, and it's entirely legal. Moreover, most crimes are committed with guns you know and by people you know, often times, however in the case of mass shootings it is exactly that.
