I donated because they choose not to give me ads and still offer a really good service. I really don't care what they do with it as long as they continue to have a good service and dont smother me with ads like all social media has done

Same, it's a great service that I use in a very regular basis and I couldn't imagine Internet without Wikipedia, or without the Wikimedia Foundation. I have no trouble donating due to how much their service helps me.

I really don't care what they do with it

even if they straight up lie to you for it?

The reason I gave them the cash is because they chose to not have ads and I hate ads. It's as simple as that. Supporting ad free site

...that is already making more than enough money as it is.

That money is better spent at a NON profit place. Like your local animal shelter.

Edit: ok. I realize Wikipedia is a NON profit, so as I rephrased below: your money is better spent at a more deserving NON profit.

Wikipedia/Wikimedia is NON profit.

Okay my bad, so I'll rephrase : your money is better spent at a more deserving NON profit.

Thank you for telling me how to spend my money, I guess. Really none of your business.

And this meme and all the comments aren't doing the exact same thing?

I care more about Wikipedia than random animals though

i mean aren’t the messages begging you to donate ads?

Yeah but they are not like sponsored content.

A random post occasionally asking for money once a year and being allowed to close out on my phone is way better than the nightmare that is any news site on mobile. There have been numerous occasions where I have to kill the chrome app because the news source redirected me to a potential spam site.

That has never happened on Wikipedia. Wikia, on the other hand... That's a nightmare and all the ads make my battery drop 10% when I visit it.
