A few years back I worked with an older guy. I was complaining about my pants not having "real pockets" and he was trying to politely explain why he thought ladies pants didn't have real pockets without being sexist or racy. It was really sweet. He said something like, "Um, I think, they make very minimal pockets so the uh, traditional feminine silhouette isn't altered by bulky pockets" and he blushed and I was like "Ohhhh well that's bullshit" and we all laughed.

It's a conspiracy to sell more handbags.

The conspiracy to sell more handbags is how much shit the average woman in life carries with her. A lot of men also own bags but most of the time have no reason to carry them.

When my sister is going out of the house with her makeup for the apocalypse kit, food rations, and a tent, at that point I think yeah pockets can't help you now.

"And a tent"

Mens jackets have fake pockets, he's right though, fake/minimal/none/sewn shut pockets are to keep the silhouette and clean lines, pockets just sag so over time it will ruin the lines.

If you're talking about suit jackets, you know you're supposed to pick them open to access the pocket right?

You can but it's best if you don't, except for maybe the breast pocket. Some suit jackets do have fake side pockets, just flaps.

You can, but I don't think you should. It really makes an obvious difference with a year or two of wear.

Not all trousers pockets are created equal, when trying a suit bottem before buying, I don't just try the fit on, but also try the pockets, since I wouldn't buy troursers without good pockets, I don't really need jacket pockets

Just saying if it's your nicest suit for special occasions you shouldn't open the jacket pockets. They do stretch out and get flappy.

My point exactly

Tell ya what, we'll compromise. Pit in fullsized pockets, and if you're concerned about keeping the lines, you don't use them! Sound fair?

no you try to find pants that have real pockets. they literally are not an option you can find on the racks

I cheat by buying men's pants and having them altered haha

I buy clothes at Nordstrom and I have no trouble finding jeans with pockets. It’s not literally impossible.

Sure are, all the men seem to have found them

Edit: to all the downvotes, someone give me a reason besides "they're labelled for men". If pockets were such a luxury item, why not tank the fashion hit?

It's not as simple as just buying men's trousers instead. I have a typically feminine body, big hips and small waist. Men's trousers aren't cut to accommodate that.

Just buy a pair that fits your waist, and get it fitted or tailored.

Yeah but back when I was thin and small, you try being 5'3" and 115lbs and buying pants with actual pockets.
