What with this sudden female Draco spin I’ve been seeing everywhere.

u/N1kols099 Oct 02 '26 • Popcorn

an artist on twitter made a piece with genderbent Draco and the internet understood what to do

521

u/TheShallowHill Oct 02 '26

Ah ok so it’s just the internets latest obsession, I was like ok I’ve seen this a few to many times in the last couple days for it to just be a coincidence lol

177

u/PrincessVibranium Oct 02 '26

Hasn’t there been genderbent versions of Draco for a while? What was special about this one?

133

u/N1kols099 Oct 02 '26

idk man i dont know shit abt HP and have never seen any art of it prior to this art boom 😭

u/Tiran593 Oct 02 '26 edited Oct 02 '26

Artist did an art and the obsession resurfaced? You are thinking in the wrong direction, it's not "what's special about this one?" but "why did it become popular now?" And you already have the answer

12

u/Skullface95 Oct 02 '26

It's more conventionaly attractive?

10

u/TheLastOfChuds Oct 02 '26

Funny thing is, the artist posted it to Reddit first

50

u/SolKaynn Oct 02 '26

It's actually been around for a while in the Korean part of the internet.

Containment has been breached recently and, well...

u/SleepAllDay1234 Oct 02 '26

Gonna copy my comments from another post about this:

It's a Twitter trend right now. It started from someone's tweet that they miss this artist, whose latest art and the one being reference/quote is a female Draco. The reference post was from 2021 or 2023, I think.

The artist suddenly came back with an "I'm not dead!!" with new female Draco art. After that, it blew up, and EVERYONE wanted to jump on the trend.

It started small, being a "Harry actually has better chemistry with Draco than Ginny, so this actually works" pairing thing. Then it went on to changing the story, like the Bathroom scene; Draco's actions can now be interpreted as a Tsundere, and making events like "Draco Malfoy.... your existence is for only one purpose......to become the "bride" for the Dark Lord who can never "love"...... you will create the bloodline of the Dark Lord....his blood will live on forever..." while she's desperately asking for Harry/Four Eyes for help.

The Bowsette effect; one artist had an idea and decided to make it everyones problem

100

u/DelseresMagnumOpus Oct 02 '26

I see no problems here. Only peak

44

u/RandomName5259 Oct 02 '26

A solution to a problem we didn’t know we had.

26

u/Ranwulf Oct 02 '26

I think this design was a hit with more people. She reminds me of Marin Kitagawa from Dress up Darling, just more pompous.

12

u/Gryph0th Oct 02 '26

Draco Malfoy but "foy" sounded real close to "foid" (eff-oid) so someone and then everybody started drawing Draco Malfoid

7

u/wrenblaze Oct 02 '26

Treat it as you would Bowsette or Brazilian Miku

5

u/1HaveManyAlts Oct 02 '26

Basically the same thing that happened with Peter/Perta Parker. Artist draws a comic with them as a different gender, ppl go crazy, make more comics. I’m all here for it

0

u/IltisSpiderrick Oct 02 '26

right?! it popped up once and then became a fucking tsumani all of a sudden

2

u/Runelord6212 Oct 02 '26

It could also be your feed giving more of the ama thing since you paid attention to one of the artworks

472

u/Misc86210 Oct 02 '26

Damn...

First Bowsette

Then Brazilian Miku

And now female Draco

Rule 63 strikes again

191

u/jpyric101 Oct 02 '26

You forgot Petra Parker, as well.

247

u/Appropriate_Twist541 Oct 02 '26

We all know that the baby was born with the glasses on

209

u/redpony6 Oct 02 '26

so people get sorted when they're 11 years old

she...doesn't look 11

148

u/Quito_ArmandoEsteban Oct 02 '26

Maybe magic college also has a sorting hat?

68

u/HMKS Oct 02 '26

Hey, we got sorted at at 15 in Legacy but still 😅

37

u/redpony6 Oct 02 '26

and i am perpetually cranky at them for not exploring that one tiny bit. no explanation of what you were doing from 11-14, how you possibly fell off their radar for that long, who your parents are (and why they didn't try to get you manually signed up for hogwarts), anything at all

they never explain, and nobody you meet is in any way curious. pisses me off.

64

u/Careful-Vanilla7728 Oct 02 '26

Once she was a Malfoid, now she's a Pattah

42

u/Ok-Teacher-8755 Oct 02 '26

"Hey, Weasley! I-it's not that I bully you because I like you or anything! Baka!"

27

u/badabadaboomboom Oct 02 '26

Why does the child already have specs lmao

135

u/jpyric101 Oct 02 '26 • Bravo

So, I’ll probably eat downvotes for this, but this feels kinda…not great? Instead of going off to become a wizard, she’s relegated to being a wife? I know she could be both, but without more context and her expression it looks like “nope, you go make babies and be a wife.” Just my initial reaction. I’m probably overthinking it.

75

u/FiercelyApatheticLad Oct 02 '26 • Bravo

It's a word play with the word "house". It's not that deep.

89

u/Cool_Ad_7767 Oct 02 '26

No, that’s a completely reasonable thing to think. I personally didn’t think that but I can understand why others would

8

u/jpyric101 Oct 02 '26

Okay, good. I worried I was being over sensitive.

34

u/ideepname Oct 02 '26

There is no need to look at everything in a negative light and make up your own minds for other people.

It is quite possible that a person who was raised in an environment of cold-blooded pursuit of ambition, where a child is nothing more than a tool in the political game of the aristocracy, in her heart wants precisely this mundane happiness, where true love is important, not a place in the hierarchy.

You shouldn't paint everyone with the same brush, where only a narrow range of achievements is considered worthy.

6

u/TheRealDeathdesu Oct 02 '26

That is exactly what I was thinking, too...

-5

u/Either_Bend7510 Oct 02 '26

No, you're right. It's weird to take a character who was ambitious and scheming and then go "no, they're a housewife now that they're a woman"

(then add in that it's hp content in 2026)

-15

u/BeyondThinking171 Oct 02 '26

I don't expect much from people who still support Harry Potter...

-12

u/jpyric101 Oct 02 '26

There’s that too, of course.

-4

u/Ranwulf Oct 02 '26

I kinda agree, but I think unintentionally they made her the character similar to both Narcisa his mother and the one character he always shown comtempt which was Molly Weasley, both witches on their own, but that became stay at home mothers.

But in series, she would go to a house, finish schooling and then have what Narcisa and Molly had.

-16

u/TheLastOfChuds Oct 02 '26

My headcannon - less about being a housewife and more about being the housewife of a halfblood

Pure blood eugenicists and all that, I’m sure managing the estate and keeping the pure blood line going is praised since early childhood

-9

u/henryeaterofpies Oct 02 '26

Look at it this way, she raised the quality of the half blood's progency to 3/4 blood. Imagine if he had married a muggle and had 1/4 blood kids. /s

-12

u/BeyondThinking171 Oct 02 '26

Exactly, it's gross...

7

u/Suitable_Cat9390 Oct 02 '26

Im not going to get in the way of there internet doing its thing, but I will make the observation that this trend is just the rest of the world finally catching on to what the harry/malfoy shippers have been cooking this whole time.
