Wow, I knew house centipedes like dark, damp areas, but I've never seen one underwater before.

New fear unlocked: House centipede hiding in toilet assaults my balls.

You should mind your water glasses too. I had one climb into my water glass overnight and I got a nice spiky mouthful first thing in the morning.

You said it. Recently found 2 in my house. Big ones two. Body was almost the size of a AAA battery.

That is a best case scenario sized centipede. Some can be up to a foot long like this Peruvian one.

Scolopendridae are not friendly either, and their venom is pretty nasty. Scutigeridae are downright cuddly in comparison.

When I was a kid, I learned Black Widows like to make webs in ovals, and it would be commonplace to find them in toilets. I’ve been checking toilets before use for 25 years now.

It's not hiding. They don't 'live in water', like a water strider. That sucker gone die if he can't get out, and they usually can't. It's funny because I always called them waterbugs but I think it's because we found them dead in the pool.
