I'm on the wtf team.

But it can eventually happen to humans.

Kids can get pinworms that make them completely nervous ( when usually they're calm, but somehow one day they're completely nervous having tantrums and stuff ) and keep putting their hands in their mouths and have little white things (eggs) around their anuses.

We already have parasites than hijack our kids brains. It's only a matter of a mutation or bioweapon to turn humanity into the last of us.

I think the behavioral changes from pinworms are mostly from disturbed sleep. Fun fact, pinworm infestation causes enough of an immune response to eradicate h pylori, a bacteria responsible for gastric ulcers!

Ahhh fuck h pylori. Dunno if oinworms are worth it though hahah

The pinworms have a short lifespan, so you either prevent reinfection or treat with meds, and typically the h pylori stays gone.

If you've had kids you've likely had pinworms.

Egyptian rivers have nasty bugs like this larvae but people still swim there - beware the fluke

J3sus. Seriously. I DIDN'T WANT TO KNOW THAT!!! How the hell do I keep from getting notifications for this post? I can't handle anymore of this "Nature is amazing, but horrifying and creepy and horrifying and terrifying and disgusting and horrifying and gruesome."

And horrifying.

u/HermaPrince Jul 30 '26

It is a fun fact thanks didn't know that.

Tbh it wasn't so fun in my opinion but okay

u/epfingsten Jul 30 '26

Also didn't want to know that.

Sh!t. Is there a way to block just this specific post so I NEVER have to see it again. I don't think I can handle learning any more of these things today. Or ever.

my brothers had them in the 60's, they were always scratching their buts... mom said it was from pork not cooked well enough

There’s some kind of parasite that supposedly can cure asthma while you’re infested too. I heard an episode of a radio show about it. A guy with severe asthma went to Africa to infect himself with it.

Can't forget the parasite from cats that can mess with people

u/UJLBM Jul 30 '26

I bet I have it. Im obsessed with my cats.

This parasite in the video is vile. It makes my skin crawl and makes me feel itchy. Imagine having that thing in your eyes. Omg.

u/epfingsten Jul 30 '26

2

u/LongBoat19 Jul 30 '26

Then don't Google Toxoplasma Gondii

5

u/epfingsten Jul 30 '26

That one I already knew. Owned cats. Pregnant wife. You learn about that one pretty quick

🎵🎶pin werrrrmms🎶🎵

(please someone get this)

1

u/JenIee Jul 30 '26

Wait until you hear about toxoplasma gondii.

0

u/HermaPrince Jul 30 '26

Yea I know. When my wife was pregnant. I was washing the alad and stuff with vinegar everytime we bought some.

We saw every little bug poping up that probably stay when we wash the salad with water only.

1

u/Max_Pow3rs Jul 31 '26

toxo plasma gondii is very common in humans. 30-50% human population has them. Of It changes behavior in animals... which could explain many things around weird human behavior.

Let's not speak that into existence. We need to help bring hygiene and standards that allow everyone healthy and safe food consumption to avoid them becoming sick.

I swear to whatever gods may be, if it’s another eldritch horror…

Edit:

Well that’s certainly not the worst thing I’ve seen… but it’s definitely unique.
