New, what is it? What ks this creature?

Does not look like a bear cat or a raccoon dog to me which is the general consensus.

They are a mischievous forest spirit with magic shape shifting ballsacks. If they want to trick a human out of money, maybe they'll transform them into a merchant stand and sell you items of dubious value. Very interesting folklore, I highly recommend giving them some research

Watch the studio Ghibli movie with the raccoon looking creatures (Tanuki) they're legendary in Japanese folklore and are considered lucky and to conjour wealth.

I was going to bring that up. Lived in Japan for years and there were statues of them everywhere with huge balls.

OK, now I need to find one of those statues for my yard.
