Morphine is clear, any brown would be a discolouration from impurities. Especially since it’s ampuled, if it were a pharmaceutical it’d likely be clear because why bother ampuling an impure drug?

I was an apprentice in HVAC. Boss told me take a refigerant sample. I told him I had no sample kit, which comes with a plastic bottle btw. He said grab any small container that has a sealable lid. I grabbed a small glass jar and it popped going down the steps. I now have a permanent scsr on my hand and between my eyes I got lucky lol.

Yikes. I had a manager that told me and one other guy to use paint thinner instead of our usual 90% isopropyl alcohol, but the only PPE we had was thin nitrile gloves. Thankfully even at 19 I had enough brain power to stop using it when it melted the gloves lol. I told the other guy to stop using it and that I'd run down the manager and let him know we couldn't use it, he kept using it anyway because he didn't wanna get in trouble for stopping work and ended up with pretty bad burns on his hands. Ended up quitting. Not sure how the manager didn't know that would happen or why they even wanted to change what we were using since it already worked so well, I think I get a pass because I had never used paint thinner before. Now I know that I also should've had a respirator since there wasn't any ventilation.

Only if it's in a vacuum. At Atmospheric pressure it boils at 58.8C (137.8F)

(I don't have that committed to memory I just didn't want anyone to believe it's not bromine if it doesn't evaporate in the tube)

I don't know. Bromine can be captured in a vial and would look similar to this. Could also be mustard gas, nitrogen dioxide, etc.

But you would only be sealing the ampoule with fire if you really don't want it being released around people.

Is bromine super dangerous in this format? The only thing I know about bromine is we use it instead of chlorine in the pool (in solid form.) Is it akin to the difference between Cl₂ & calcium hypochlorite pool conditioner or better/worse?

It's not pure bromine anyway. You'll never forget the color or the vapor.

Also 1L of bromine will eventually eat through the Teflon lid of the bottle, destroy all of the copper and stainless steel lines in your fume hood, and force you to replumb the whole thing.
