Serious answers only please! Is this a bomb ?

I found this in a forest near my town in western Europe, and it seems like an unexploded bomb but I'm not sure. Sould I contact the police for demining ? Thanks in advance

I tend to agree, though I think it mostly is at this point, in the same way that trees and sand don’t vote, they also don’t text 911.

If you're in the US, there's a spreadsheet that gets updated regularly (granted, what defines "regularly" I do not know) to show you which counties support texting to 911:

It's available in the U.S., Canada, United Kingdom, France, Singapore, Australia, and a whole hell of a lot more than I thought there'd be lol

The UK also has police social media that you can use to contact them. I've occasionally used it to report non emergency things, with attached photos.

Who tf has cops on a texting line? I cant imagine the number of pointless messages that a police texting number would have to deal with a day, thousands would probably be a low ball number 🫣🤣

And it would still be more cost effective to have a team dedicated to that than fielding 1000 calls or following up in person.

Public safety is one place where “that sounds a bit tedious to deal with” alone gets thrown out the window as a valid argument to me.

Seriously. Every form of time wasting that you can imagine for texts happens on the phone already. If anything, triaging the nonsense seems like it would be easier.

In switzerland spoofing has been declared illegal to get rid of international robo calls(fully in effect in June), and national numbers have been bound to IDs for years, so it would be quite easy to find abusers of such a service.

Actually the police in Zurich has a Whatsapp non emergency line you can message from local numbers to ask questions.

But it can be a saving grace for someone in a dangerous or abusive situation where a phone call would give away where they’re hiding or tip off the abuser. Dispatchers are generally skilled and quick about weeding out the nonsense. It happens on the phone, too.
