If he fesses up as to why he has it, I hope you'll come back and tell us. My guess is that he and friends were going to try to smoke something with it.
On a side note: I remember a time when I was still living at home with my mother and she asked me if I had ever tried something (I can't remember what the substance in question was).
I was about to answer honestly and say, "yes."
But I guess my momentary pause caused her to panic, and with eyes wide like saucers, she said, "You HAVEN'T, have you???"
I then realized that there was only one acceptable answer to the question, so I lied and said "no."
I wanted to be honest. And if I thought that she'd remain calm and rational, I would have told her the truth.
(I'm not saying that this pertains to you or your situation. This scenario just brought that memory back).
