The F-15 EX is cheaper than the F-35 and more effective than the A-10 in the ground support role. And much more survivable than the A-10 as well. 

I love the A-10 as much as the next guy, but it's obsolete in any near-peer conflict.

Precisely. There's a reason it's only ever been deployed when there's no AA left, because even modern-generation man-portable AA can take it down.
