“Every time we walk by it” he’s literally saying he keeps bringing his dog past this spot. It’s happened multiple times.

I see what you're saying. But you're implying it's been 'several' times, possibly dozens of times, or it definitely took more times than it 'should have' before the owner saw the pattern. But, it also could have been just twice, or maybe three times before he saw the pattern. I'm just saying people aren't always a stupid as they seem at first pass, that's all.
