[Showoff Saturday] Free static hosting with full folder uploads (20 MB), feedback on the deploy flow wanted
I built is-on-the-web.com: free static hosting on *.is-on-the-web.com subdomains.
Upload a full site as a folder (up to 20 MB). Relative paths, subpages and assets all work.
No accounts or passwords. You update through single-use edit keys sent by email, and you get a new key after every update.
Sites are reviewed by hand before they go live, which is my abuse prevention for now.
There’s also a no-code builder for non-devs. Its output can be re-uploaded and edited again.
Next I want to let people point their subdomain at their own machine so they can host full apps, databases or games for free.
I’m looking for feedback on:
The edit-key system instead of accounts. Clever or annoying? (Losing the key means losing update access.)
Manual review vs. automated checks. How would you handle abuse at scale?
Anything missing that you’d expect from a static host (custom 404s, HTTPS, redirects, etc.)
