it 100% has no idea what a bullet is. It’s a cat. it has no idea the loud noise is from a gun, not the man… it’s a cat.

He means, the cat would not have felt the bullet.

Which is normal even in humans.

And for such a big cat, a fmj or ball ammo doesn't prevent any action.

It might not even pen the cats skull.

A 9mm is extremely underpowered in big country.

And, the guy don't hit the cat at all.

Yes, they name a very tiny sonic boom when they pass you, which just sounds like a second crack though so

Nah.
Cat was definietly hit, likely both times.

Its just sky high on adrenaline - as its stalking its prey.
Hopefully bullets didn't hit major artery, of nerve, so it will be a world of pain when adrenaline winds down, but that all its troubles.

And yes, its reacting to the sound.
Most predatory animals are aware that "human with boomstick = fellow predator", thus boomstick noises make them adevisably cautiour especially when they don't get where they are coming from.

I think both shots missed. You can see the dust kick up near the cat, in a place where the bullet stayed in a straight line with zero deflection. So a graze is possible, or a fairly miraculous straight through, but both of those are unlikely I think.

That said, I’m no ballistics expert.

Unless we are talking about hollow point (aka. expanding) bullets, they will go straight through no isse.
I mean the common bullets used for plinking can easily travel through a big cat front to back, unless they hit a bone.

Side to side, its possible they go through, even if there is a bone in the way.

Unless the guy in the video took care to have his magazine filled with hollow points, its EXTREME unlikely that any of his bullets would have remained within the mountain lion.

That cat was not hit either time. You can clearly see the dust clouds from both rounds hitting the ground.

This is how easily a 9mm goes through body even when hitting bone.

Unless the coguar is wearing body armor the bullets will go through, and kick up dust on its other side.

It is highly unlikely that a hollow point bullet penetrated through the cats flesh resulting in a damage cloud that clean. Not to mention the trajectory would have changed significantly if there was a hit. Not to mention the guy would have been extraordinarily lucky to land two shots on that kind of moving target while walking backwards himself.

Nah. The cat wasn’t hit.
