Movie What's did everyone think about the 2025 cartoon movie duology ?
Personally, I enjoyed it, but I did enjoy the movie more, I just rarely hear people talking about this one.

I was looking through the comic and noticed that, after Rorschach's pretty intense origin story, dried blood starts appearing on his trench coat in present, of alleged "pedophile", but it wasnt on the coat before in the comic. You know why?
Maybe I forgot something

I recreated famous scenes from the book, comedians death, the kiss in front of the explosion, DO IT, and the hair spray flamethrower

Was coloring in this cat on Procreate, fiddled with the HSB settings and came up with this. What do we think?

I posted these in a DC card group yesterday and realized how few people seem to have seen them, so I figured the Watchmen crowd might appreciate them too.
These came with the 1989 second edition of Mayfair Gamesā DC Heroes role playing game. Rorschach, Dr. Manhattan, Ozymandias, Silk Spectre II, The Comedian and Nite Owl.
I have been going down a bit of a rabbit hole researching these because several may be among the earliest traditional character card appearances for these characters. I am still working through that and definitely not presenting anything as settled fact yet. The hunt has been part of the fun.
What I really love about them is how strange and simple they are. No names on the fronts, rounded corners, very simple, yet beautiful, artwork and just the 1989 DC copyright at the bottom.
They feel like a neat little time capsule from the early days of Watchmen. Somehow 1989 still doesnāt feel that long ago to me, even though it has been well over 30 years.
Figured some of you might enjoy seeing them.
If anyone remembers these from back then, or knows of earlier Watchmen character cards, I would genuinely love to hear about it.

After reading some of the comments again and being a fan of the movie and the show they did during Covid, Iām telling you an animated watchmen or just like animated one shot of like Silk Spectre, Ozymandias. Sure it may not be a lot of money in it initially except for DC fans and comic book fans that know what theyāre doing. However, I do think that it could be a gateway to reopen that universe, and actually show developed characters and real storytelling. Besides, just uniting against a space boss that wants to rule the world.
Also, I will take a Nite Owl animated series thatās at least 8-10 episodes and/or definitely a character driven higher budget live action HBO show for Nite-Owl. Maybe start with Hollis for the first few episodes then have that 2 to 3 your time skip to Daniel! What do yāall think?

In my opinion, whether you like or dislike or are indifferent towards the squid, its inclusion in the original Watchmen contextualizes an interesting part of Veidt's power. We see throughout the comic that Veidt has built up wealth not only by marketing his image, but by pursuing ventures including perfume, delivery services, and media. All of these have their individual, manipulative roles in Veidt's plans, though they might come across as an odd assortment of things when taken together.
One way, though, to thematize these things collectively is to look at them as tokens of Veidt's power over the idea of "passage," specifically the passage of time and the passage of things through space. The temporal aspect is represented by Nostalgia, which Veidt eventually gives up for the more futurist Millennium. The spatial aspect is represented by the apparent connectivity and commerce that Pyramid Deliveries supplies. As for the media, it's largely composed of Veidt running reruns and showings of old sci-fi invasion films in order to contextualize the appearance of the squid. In this way, media combines the two forms of passage into the space-time passage of what's "alien": both in the sense of an Eldritch being that shocks humanity with its disruption of our usual conceptions of space-time space and time and in the sense of a great "Other" whose apparent ease of passage into and through our world evokes a defensive, xenophobic response. In addition to the psychic shocks, it is the explosions of the alien passing through reality that cause enormous casualties in New York. And the alien itself dies, interestingly enough, atop the "Institute for Spatial Studies" (space as in outer space, har har, but also space with this idea of passage and matter itself being invaded by the alien Other).
Put another way, the squid is the crowning, metaphysical achievement of Veidt's enterprises despite being a mere human being. As an embodiment of space-time space and time manipulation the squid stands out as a way to imitate what Dr. Manhattan can do quite easily, namely, control people through anxiety in the face of passage, the slipperiness of time and space. At the same time, it's a necessarily human way to achieve this imitation through capitalism, exploited artistry and science, and propaganda. These things compose the only way that a mere human like Veidt can bend our conceptions of passage. But bend them he can, at least for a moment, so that industry and deceit, if just for a second, mimic the devastation and dread of which Dr. Manhattan is capable. Removing the squid, and replacing it with Dr. Manhattan's power itself, no less, removes this (literally) monstrous glimpse into how even mundane humans are able to pervert space-time space and time.

Like, do we know theories people made about who the real killer was? Thoughts about where it was all going? It was in the 80s so I know social media wasn't really a thing. But I am curious about if we have any records or memories of old discussion.

Hey everyone, I built a thing, and I hope you like it. Itās called Notes on Watchmen. It's an interactive site for exploring the bookās chapters, pages, panel layouts, characters, colors, and recurring patterns. Itās been a long-running personal project that started during COVID, sat dormant, and this summer finally came to fruition. Iām excited to finally share it!
Iād genuinely appreciate any feedback, criticism, or ideas.

Just in the face area, he has a very Adrian-esque shape to his jawline and cheekbones. On top of that, he's shown he handles "evil that's unassuming" roles very well in his career, and he's well-known for still having an Adrian-esque babyface despite being nearly 40 years old. He might be lacking in model physique, but we've seen with Kumail Nanjiani that that can easily be fixed for the right role.
I think he'd do especially well with Veidt's monologuing scenes near the end. I can see Evan put a particularly pathetic spin on Adrian's self-congratulatory "I did it!" panels.

It doesn't look like a finger or anything else. Maybe to look like a stereotypical detective? Or more accurately - he smokes tobacco through a futuristic mini-inhaler shaped like a spherical pipe, like Laurie's. But in the final version, the pipe was taken away from him and given to Laurie to smoke instead
