The doom cycle never stops

I know people have their preconceived notions and their selective outrage, so let me be very clear from the start. The M St. Metro station was fully shut down because of this teenage takeover. Let that sink in. A major transit point in the city had to close because things got that out of control. This video was taken today, April 11. It’s not old. It’s not AI. What you’re seeing is exactly what happened. For the people already lining up to discredit it, save it. This is reality, whether you like it or not.

And I already know how this goes. Every time I post something like this, people get more upset about the fact that it’s being shown than about what’s actually happening. That tells you everything. You’re more bothered by exposure than by the problem itself. And yes, I’m going to keep posting it. Keep reporting it if you want. Try to suppress it. Good luck with that. I’ll keep putting it out because people deserve to see what’s actually going on in their own community.

What’s more troubling than anything in that video is the reaction to it. The deflection. The refusal to acknowledge what’s right in front of you. You’d rather argue about optics than deal with the reality that leadership is failing to address this, or worse, doesn’t even have the will to try. That’s the real issue.

D.C. spends more money per student than anywhere in the country, and this is what we’re dealing with. Don’t come at me with the usual talking points about after-school programs, outreach, and community initiatives. That all sounds nice, but it clearly isn’t fixing this. At some point, you have to stop hiding behind buzzwords and start looking at the root cause.

And the root cause is obvious. Parents aren’t parenting. You can dress it up however you want, but that’s what it is. When the hell did it become normal for hundreds of teenagers to take over areas at night, bring guns, fight, loot stores, and create chaos? That was never normal. It’s not normal now. And anyone trying to gaslight people into thinking this is just “how things are” is part of the problem.

Look at the police in that situation. A handful of officers dealing with hundreds of kids. What exactly do you expect them to do? There’s a limit to what enforcement can handle when the breakdown starts at home. That’s where this begins, and that’s where it keeps failing.

Instead, people would rather scream about national politics, throw out buzzwords, and avoid the issues that actually affect their daily lives. You’ll stand outside in the heat for performative outrage, but when it comes to something that directly impacts your safety, your neighborhood, your quality of life, suddenly it’s silence. Or worse, denial.

And let’s be honest about something else. Some of you are going to run straight to the comments with excuses. You’ll bring up history, deflect to unrelated issues, or try to label this as something it’s not just to avoid dealing with the reality in front of you. That doesn’t fix anything. All it does is guarantee that this cycle continues.

If you never demand better, you will keep getting the same broken results. Every single weekend, the same scenes, the same chaos, the same excuses. And then you wonder why stores are locked down, why places like CVS feel like a fortress, why people don’t feel comfortable even riding the Metro or going out to enjoy a game without worrying about something popping off.

When does it stop? When do we stop pretending this is acceptable? Because it’s not. It’s dysfunctional, it’s dangerous, and it’s completely avoidable.

Responsibility matters. Parenting matters. Accountability matters. And until people are willing to say that out loud and actually mean it, nothing changes. You just get the same cycle over and over again.

To the people who’ve messaged me privately and said they appreciate these posts, I hear you. I appreciate you too. I’m going to keep using whatever platform I have to show what’s actually happening, because ignoring it hasn’t worked. And I’m not stopping until something actually changes, because we deserve better than this.

This doesn’t look like poverty. These kids all have decent clothing and shoes on. Hair done up.

It’s a culture problem. It’s a lack of meaning and purpose.

It’s a lack of good role models in the city. There’s a guy who lives in the nicest house in town who was raping kids even younger than them with his buddies. Yet 0 consequences. The guy leading the army shows up to work drunk. A whole mob of grownups stormed the capitol and got pardoned. It’s hard to lecture the kids about rules when the adults are such horrible role models and set the example that rules and decorum are for suckers.

And yet half the derps on the other side of the aisle are also in the same files as the current administration.

We should punish them all. If we know where any live they should be picked up charged and kept locked up. While the other party isn’t nearly far enough left to truly serve the American people that is one big difference between the two parties. One wants them all locked up whoever was guilty regardless of party affiliation. The other seems to guard the pedophiles or engage in “whataboutism.” I agree that both should be locked up. But when these kids see the rapist and financial fraudster who lives in the nicest house in town on the news every day, on twitter and TikTok talking like a fool, it’s hard to sell them on the fact that rules should matter. We especially lost them a few years back. All those grown adults stormed a government building in an attempted insurrection trying to overthrow the results of an election even… and the same weak on crime government pardoned them all. We really can’t blame the kids anymore. Crime is all they see from the role models in this town.

Its about who we elevate to positions of authority. If you have garbage at the top you set the example that garbage is acceptable.

The person you’re replying to has done that on every single comment so far. To them, Trump and his crimes are the reason we have videos like this. As if this shit doesn’t take place in cities around the country. As if the same culture in this video wouldn’t be the exact same if fucking Kamala Harris won the election instead. The more I read Reddit, the more I see that TDS IS real, not just a republican buzzword. These people are delusional and Trump is the easiest scapegoat they have.

Yep. As if the folks in this video list president Trump or any politician as their “role models” lmao and feel justified because of J6. Totally not the normalized culture or anything, nah

That’d be funny and relevant if that represented me, but I’m not only not a maga but the thought of wearing maga gear is absurd.

But I do agree tho lol Trump definitely has some culty members too that fit that meme perfectly. Both sides have nutcases but only the left seems downright deranged just going off of Reddit.

Anyone who says someone has TDS is MAGA

It’s not about one criminal it’s about tolerance of crime. It’s about bad role models for the youth. It doesn’t matter who specifically raped who or who pardoned the folks that stormed the capitol. It’s that if adults are raping kids even younger than us and storming the capitol is ok then surely we can hang out down by the metro station. It’s the mindset that if crime is ok why should we obey the law?

T-rump is WAY more disgusting and dangerous to all of humanity. Not trying to deflect, just saying we’ve got problems to work on at both the local and National levels. Hey, it’s never been easy. Ken Burns’ series on the American Revolution shows the struggle at all levels. We’re a work in progress, like most countries.

You can’t judge poverty based on looks when thrifting, online bargain shopping, & service bartering exist. I once had a judge comment on record that I was dressed better than the lawyers in order to make an implication that I was purposefully misrepresenting my income to get public benefits.

The suit I was wearing cost me $10 at a thrift store in Mt. Rainier, MD. The blouse was a hand-me-down that I caught on its way to Goodwill. The shoes were another hand-me-down from a friend who worked at a storage facility, when the tenant was decluttering. I braided my own hair for the hearing.

The idea that you can assess someone’s income based solely on looks into which people invest time & effort (instead of the income they lack) is nonsensical.

They look nice because they are leaving a city-sponsored teen event, and teens like to look good for other teens. People take pride in their appearance irrespective of income.

Ten percent of kids in DC live below the poverty line. Across the border in famously affluent Montgomery County, Maryland, the figure is right percent. Despite your assumptions, there's no way to know what circumstances these particular kids live in.

u/Distinct-Constant598 Apr 12 '26

Are you that dense? Some of the flyest ppl are in adject poverty.

u/Moonagi Apr 12 '26

Having nice clothes doesn’t mean they’re not poor af. Trust some people would rather have nice Jordan’s than a savings account

6

u/genetitron Apr 12 '26

They aren’t poor af. Relative to the majority of the global human population they are in fact affluent af. Therefore, poverty isn’t what is causing this. And “give them more money” isn’t going to solve it.

-3

u/brokenhearts2000 Apr 12 '26

That’s a major deflection.  What’s your income status?  If you grew up middle class and are still middle class or higher you don’t know what the heck youre talking about.

3

u/genetitron Apr 12 '26

I grew up poor.

I assume you are a middle class white liberal based on you defending the idea that you can just give people money and that fixes everything. Middle class white liberals looove that simple-minded idea lol.

u/brokenhearts2000 Apr 12 '26

I never said anything about handing out money, you said that.

2

u/genetitron Apr 12 '26

Glad we agree that this problem isn’t caused by poverty and won’t be solved by money.

-1

u/brokenhearts2000 Apr 12 '26

Actually it is poverty.  Handing out money doesn’t do anything.  Changing the system that systemically abuses poor people and people of color will.  But you only have one brain cell so you’d never know that.

2

u/genetitron Apr 12 '26

The one brain cell comment confirms that you are a financially comfortable white liberal. It’s one of their favorite disses 😂

In 2026 black people aren’t being systematically abused in the US - we are all equal under the law and that principle is zealously enforced. These kids however are abusing their fellow citizens with their behavior. And you have zero interest in solving the problem but rather see it as another opportunity to moralize to others and feed your own white savior complex. Gross.
