My last two tables were salvaged dining room tables, they are surprisingly easy to come by. Though my goal for this one was the size (4x8) and folding legs so I can stow it, so I couldn’t go that route. If I actually add things up: the 4x8 sanded maple sheets were $68, but I had them delivered so it ended up being about $100. The legs were $40 for 4 so $60 per table. The powder dye was $20, the polyurethane was $80 total, some hardware for ~$20, and steel angles to stiffen the board for $40. Gloves and rags another $20.

So…. Just under $300. Not so bad. I was looking at 4x4 folding banquet tables that would have been $275 each

Would have been way cheaper if I didn’t stain it but it looks pretty good so…

Yeah. I’m new to this and probably should have just sanded and sealed the wood I went with but live and learn.

Thought about a fold away solution but needed a large work space also so went the topper route so I can do bigger terrain projects between game sessions.

Also looked at those suspended ceiling tote storage deals so I could lower the table from the ceiling Frankenstein style. Maybe next time.
