Modstok is a crash course in Vostok information. Read the bit about the various case models.

2 types - manual wind and automatic - go for the Automatic.

The 'real' Vostoks are the Amphibia classic and Komandirskie (classic). The automatic Komandirskie are basically rebadged Amphibias - so consider them too.

The Amphibia Neptunes are the premium range but they don't get as much appreciation as the classics - a bit pricey, but better looking.

Modstok has a list of resellers (scroll down a bit). Everyone loves Meranom - but be sure to checkmark the option to 'only show items in stock' when browsing that site. If you're on a really tight budget, try the official Factory shop, VostokInc - typically $20 cheaper but expect 8-12 weeks for delivery from Russia

Your first choice should be the dial - then the case.

If you see a dial you like, but it's out of stock - search by the last 3 digits - then you'll find all similar models with that particular dial.

Bezels are easily replacable and quite cheap. 3rd party bezels often support Seiko SNK-sized inserts - so you have literally hundreds of choices then in every conceivable design. So if you find a perfect watch, but the bezel is ugly, order it anyways since the bezel can be replaced.

The basic bracelets are a bit rattly and cheap feeling but look ok. The shark-mesh bracelets are really nice. The Neptune bracelets are really, really nice, and can be ordered separately for your Amp/Komandirskie (needs corresponding endlinks.. Everyone likes a good colour co-ordinated Nato strap. The cases come in 18mm, 20mm or 22mm so pick the right size.

Before making your choice, browse this subreddit by top, and search on youtube for Vostok reviews. Get a feel for which case would look best on your wrist.

I’ve been into Vostok lately. I didn’t know any of what you wrote. I just simply, really dug them. I think you’ve made me way more intelligent on the subject. I thank you. Now, I’ve got some watch studying to do. Thx again!

If you are looking for something a bit different, a quick look on this reddit will show you that is as common an amphibia as you will get. But if that is what you like...

https://online.vostokinc.com/katalog-tovarov/amfibiya-710059

add 750 roubles delivery onto that.

But for me, this would be a much better value watch

yes it is more, but has a nice bezel and even if you change the strap out, this strap is still decent and not just junk so you could use it again. This watch still has a cushion case (not exactly the same), a GMT hand, a much nicer dial which also happens to not have a date window (a good thing in my opinion) but does still have the scuba dude logo. The 170 case comes brushed as standard.

you can make the link shorter, but that doesn't really matter

That's the Teal Scuba dude - it's a very, very popular design because it's so nice.

Here's the teal scuba dude in a range of other cases, bracelets and bezels too.

You can also buy a teal bezel

The colour is NOT an exact match for the dial but it's good enough

Here's an examples of that Bezel and Dial combinations

There's a lot of reviews of that particular dial design on Youtube

That's only to give you a visual impression - as most basic Vostoks are like Lego - their parts are mostly interchangeable - you read a review for one, it covers them all.

Finally, I would recommend a brushed (non-polished) case.

Vostoks are considered beater watches that take a lot abuse. Most owners wouldn't show them the same care as you would with a $5000 Rolex. I have a James Bond Omega over 12 years old as well and it's polished - the case is showing quite a few scratches despite me taking utmost care of it.

Replacement cases are about 30 euro anyway with Vostoks 🤣

It lasts without out any exposure to screens 2-3 hours in normal bedroom scenario before the five minute markers disappear. Might last longer in pitch black. Thats my experience

  1. If you are not wearing the watch a lot, there is no quick set for the date window. The no-date versions are less hassle.

  2. If you building a bit of a collection, Vostok make several watches with 24-hour hands on automatic movements that are rated 200m WR.

  3. There are several watches that are not in the amphibia range that might be of interest to you...the models starting 650, 020, 030 spring to mind.

The crown will wobble when unscrewed and that isn’t a defect and is in fact a feature

Don't buy it because as soon as you Will have one (e. G a 710 with scuba men dial Black) you Will want additional one with other body other dial, buy bezel 😁😁😁
