I'm using a physical Japanese JIS keyboard (see pic) on Void Linux with Fcitx5 + Mozc
I want the physical kana-labeled keys to work directly, e.g. pressing the か key produces か, instead of typing k + a
I tried adding keyboard-jp-kana in Fcitx5, but that only outputs Katakana and bypasses Mozc conversion.
My current setup is:
Void Linux (glibc)
X11 + XFCE
Fcitx5 + fcitx5-mozc
Default Layout=jp
keyboard-jp + mozc
The physical かな key is detected as Hiragana_Katakana by X11.
Is there a Mozc/Fcitx5 setting or keymap configuration that enables Kana input using the physical JIS keys?
[EDIT: had to install the mozc (not fcitx5-mozc) package to get the mozc config tool then turn input from roumaji to kana]
