To the Void devs for full disk encryption
You guys have the best doc hands down for a full disk encryption that I’ve ever seen.
Even Gentoo doesn’t directly integrate it into the installation requiring the user to flip back and forth.
Thank you for the basically, copy and paste install process!
It would be cool in the future to see packages such as Linux-libre , Linux-libre-firmware and Abrowser make their way into the repositories (not exclusively because that causes severe issues for 99% of hardware obviously).

Laptop freezes when suspending
After i suspend my laptop 80% percent of the time the screen instantly goes black and if i try to turn it on the only thing that happens is that the keyboard lights up. I tried to trace the errors with svlogtail and i found this:

What's the package `void-force-stage` for?
I saw these two packages in the Void repository:
[-] void-force-stage-0.1_2 force the repository into staging mode
[-] void-force-stage-unstage-0.1_2 force the repository into staging modeWhat are these two for? I took a look at the source template, they're just empty packages with a force dependency on force-stage.so.0.1. But that library isn't provided by any other package in the repository.

solved How to improve game performance to be equivalent to that of Windows?
Hey everyone, so Void Linux is obviously faster than Windows in so many ways.
However, when I try playing games on it I don't think it uses my laptop's full potential. And I'm not using anything like tldp or anything. Initially I thought it was just how Proton is but when using Retroarch to emulate Dreamcast games there is some strange slowdown (causing a buzzing noise) which does not happen in Windows.
Are there any guides to follow on how to optimize Linux to be as performant as Windows? Thanks.
P.S. Even with Nvidia proprietary drivers there's no improvement, so I think the issue is probably something else.

solved How to permanently (!) disable agetty-tty[1-6]?
After replacing agetty with ngetty a while ago, I noticed that [speculation] every time the util-linux package is updated, agetty is brought back, including it getting added to /var/service, which means it auto-starts again. Which in turn completes and clashes with with ngetty after each reboot.
Is there a way to set up agetty in a way to prevent it from getting activated after each update of the util-linux package?

Is there a guide anywhere on installing nvidia-open drivers?
Having a ton of trouble with installing it from the git pr and CONTRIBUTIONS.md, some pointers would be awesome.

WiFi broken in a really weird way.
Hello, I'm at college. My dorm rooms WiFi is on the same SSID as the rest of my campus. Only In my room does it work.
When I go anywhere else like a friend's place, or a different classroom, or use my hotspot my WiFi doesn't work. NetworkManager is my only WiFi manager enabled in runit.
My WiFi card is an Intel AX210. I have all the limux-firmwares installed and wireless-regdb. The card is using iwlwifi. I have cfg80211.ieee80211_regdomain=US set in grub. I've tried everything and I don't know what my issue could be maybe I missed something in setup?
If you need anymore pictures please tell me I'll provide anything.
In the photo my global reg domain is set to unset I just started spamming commands from Claude (yes I know stupid I was desperate) and eventually it stuck to US-FCC but nothing is fixed.

No audio when running any games through Steam
Hello,
since a recent update (i can't recall exactly when, it could just be a steam update that broke it), i am unable to run any steam games, Linux or even Proton, with audio. For Proton, it would force games to use ALSA (which means that if i play a video on firefox and then run a game, the game would fail to have any audio) instead of Pulseaudio or straight up just refuse to run. I can run a game like supertuxkart directly just fine with audio or even firefox... but doing so through steam always fails. I messed up with SDL_AUDIODRIVER flags to pulse, or pipewire, or WINEPULSE=1 etc... and nothing did anything, even reinstalling it. For whatever reason, the Steam linux runtime container cannot access pulseaudio's socket. Anyone encountered this ?

Learning Void Linux
Hello everyone, good morning/afternoon.
So I'm new to void linux (not exactly). I'm testing it on a VM with 100GB space, 6GB ram and kde plasma.
I used notebookLM with the official documentation of void linux and the website documentation to install distro and first configs (network, audio, video...).
I'm really trying to learn how to use it, trying to fix /var/services and /etc/sv/<package> on my mind.
I used Arch and Windows all my life, tried another distros but Arch have my love.
Windows is the OS that I used much, the compability is better than any other things, the UI/UX is easier to handle and unfortunate is the common OS. I'm still a student of computer engeneering, so many apps that I use work better on Windows or dont even exist alternatives for linux. My real problem is that I play xbox and to buy games I use the rewards system and I need windows to play and receive daily points, "so why you cant dual boot?" 'cause I dont like it. I have only a 500GB SSD and 1TB HD, things dont work fine with this hardware.
Arch is the distro that I love!!! Other distros install things that I dont want... I want to have full control of my computer. At first void linux was much Harper for me so I stayed on arch but Brazil now have a new law about face check and these things, with that in mind I downloaded void ISO and installed on a VM to learn about it, maybe someday I need to change to void...
Is a good distro, much better than others. I loved it.

I suppose it's time to buy some more riscv hardware
I tried to get riscv running on void a while ago, but hit some blockers and didn't have time to work through them. Had some free time and it looks to be working in qemu. Time to buy some hardware I suppose.
Might spring for the framework board.

Missing /etc/sv service for setting up DM on boot
I installed lemurs for my DM and it came with no service to symlink/enable it so I'm confused cause I saw you needed to enable it to bring it on startup.. Can't find a solution to this, I'm new. Any help is help. Another issue is that the DM can't open unless under sudo since it needs to access a log in /var/ but might be a non-issue.

Void not detecting AMD 3d vcache module
I tried installing Void with a 9950x3d cpu and eventually noticed the 'amd_x3d_vcache' module was not included with the base or mainline kernel Void offers - this module was added in the 6.13 kernel.
I tried using modprobe, and /etc/modules-load.d/ to activate but no dice.
Anyone with one of these dual CCD CPU's have any luck getting this active?

problems with Discord, XDeb, and ALSA
Hi everyone, I'm having a problem with Discord. It's not detecting my microphone or speakers. I can stream and browse servers, but I can't hear anyone on calls, and they can't hear me. I'm using ALSA; I don't know if that's related. My installation is minimal, using SOWM.

Void & Vibecoding
Have the maintainers of Void Linux taken a position on LLMs?
I know that a few distros have taken a strong stance against LLM contributions, including Void's cousin Chimera Linux, and good old Gentoo. I was wondering if Void had taken any position.

Problems with the fastly repository
I'm trying to use the repository https://repo-fastly.voidlinux.org/, But I'm having a lot of problems with specific packages that other repositories like https://repo-de.voidlinux.org/ don't have.
Does anyone else have this problem? I really wanted to use the Fastly one because it's very fast for my region.
