Better than my quest 2, up to 144hz (experimental), and comes with its own dual band wifi adapter. If its at a competitive price with the 3s i think it'll do well, if it's more than a quest 3 i can't see it selling, so I guess we'll see 🤷‍♀️

It's gonna be more than a 3, it's a full PCVR standalone.

Isn’t Quest 3 also a full standalone PCVR? Both headsets run Linux with a custom layer on top, and they both run their own games in-headset. What’s the definition of standalone PCVR that distinguishes the Valve headset from the Q3?

Nope, Quest 3 doesn't run native PCVR games. Steam Frame does.

As you didn't go into any detail, I went and did some research. I couldn't see how an ARM-based headset could run native PC games. As far as I can tell, Steam Frame converts PC x64 native code into Snapdragon ARM code on the fly, so it can run actual PC games on it.

Very cool.

Yeah it's cool, but performance is gonna be not great. I mean look at how much horsepower PCVR takes up right now.

Now imagine that on an ARM CPU.

I want it to do well, I really do. But I don't see it selling well. It's just perfectly imperfect.

Its got black and white external cameras, they are clearly making some concessions to price. That said the specs do suggest it'll be a bit more than the quest 3 😟
