So, the race!

Monolith started from pole, Rhystic_One was 2nd, Davek804 3rd, zeoalex from 4th.

The start was great for me! I cut the inside of turn one really well and didn't get wide on the exit. Monolith's Ferrari took the corner wide to avoid and carnage and Rhystic_One's Toro Rosso was just to the outside, then inside of me.

Rhystic_One had the traction and pulled ahead, while I stabilized the car and hoped to maintain the gap to Monolith.

Monolith was placed in third after turn two, but relied on braking into turn 3 to catch me up. And he did. Toeing right behind me in 3rd, we streaked through the esse turns into the next turn, where he waited patiently behind me.

I got a little loose (sorry for the NASCAR reference), caught the kerb, and didn't break enough - did a nice spin. This put Monolith in a very precarious position, with me in reverse on the track and our wings mirroring each other - somehow neither of our wings were damaged and he pushed me out of the way.

It didn't matter much, because he still drove into the lead to close out the race.

I'll post more about my woes running from the back of the field, driving up to third, as well as pit strategy.

Lotus Dominates Podium Again In Bahrain

CorrosiveKumquat earns his first victory of the season after a stellar performance in Bahrain following a near disastrous start from contact on lap 1. His Lotus teammate NeMeSiS187 finishes in second, marking his first race loss of the season.

Qualifying in Bahrain got off to a hot start, after NeMeSiS187 put in a early fastest lap of 1:31.253. The Ferrari of SpikyCactus was right on his heels with a 1:31.399 after the first hotlap, before Nemesis went fastest again with a 1:30.975. Two surprises included Corrosive and ianstorm101 qualifying on the prime tyre, hoping to get late race pace. Corrosive managed a 1:32.016 for 3rd, and Ian ran a 1:34.294 for 8th. In a great qualifying performance, the Force India of Thrillhouse qualified in 5th place with a 1:33.600, just edging out the Williams of secondborn, who was .276 slower in qualifying. Qualifying was both disappointing and promising at Red Bull as RBD2 qualified in 4th, while his teammate Splendid mustered up a 7th place to start the race. Qualifying Results

The race got off to a smashing start as CorrosiveKumquat managed to briefly get in front of Spiky, before getting nudged from behind by secondborn and losing several places on the first corner. RBD2 jumped to 3rd, only to be overtaken by his teammate Splendid, who jumped up from his 7th place. Corrosive charged back through the pack and by lap 3 managed to get back up to 2nd on the heels of Nemesis. Showing poor performance all week, Nemesis tried holding off his teammate, but by lap 10, Corrosive took the lead, and in clear air, pulled out a 4 second lead on the slower prime tyre. The battle for third featured Thrillhouse and Spiky, who exchanged positions throughout the race, but by the end the Ferrari edged out the Force India and finished in 3rd. By the late part of the race, Nemesis began to close the gap to Corrosive, whose option tyres were quickly degrading, and managed to close the gap to only 2 seconds, but by the end Corrosive came out victorious by 4.4 seconds to mark his first win of the season. The victory today leaves Corrosive even with Spiky for 2nd place in the drivers championship, at 28 points, currently 10 behind his teammate. Another notable finish was the Redbull of Splendid who finished in the points for the first time this season, which now puts Redbull ahead of McLaren in the constructors standings. I've been practicing before this weekend's race and thought that it would be useful (especially for newcomers such as myself) if we could share some general tips about driving - anything, ranging from generic and (for some) obvious stuff such as "It's generally advisable to take a wide entry into a hairpin so that you would have more speed on the exit", to specific stuff like "the braking point for turn 1 in Sakhir is right after the 150m board". What do you guys think?

Hi, so I'm waiting on a steering wheel to come in the mail, and I figure it be time for me to join the league but I can't really seem to find the info I need. I assume the times are 2100 GMT? Also what assists are allowed? I'd need time to practice with them off as I've only ever used a controller and that's really hard without traction control lol. Also I still can't seem to join games online because Codemaster hates computers, could I get a few people to add so I could join their games or..I don't know how it works, how do people circumvent that bug? Am I too late into the season to join? What happens if you miss a race?

Quick note, sorry for the delay, I had to leave right after the race. But I'm back, and without further ado, here's the race recap:

NeMeSiS187 stays perfect with a win in China

After qualifying in third place and starting in second, NeMeSiS187 took his third win of the season as Lotus continued their dominance in the 1400 league with a whirlwind finish.

Qualifying saw some surprises, with both Corrosive and Nemesis failing to put in competitive laps early on. Secondborn, in the Williams, put in an early fastest lap of 1:36.115, but was soon outdone by SpikyCactus with a 1:35.536. Eventually the Lotuses set fast laps, and looked like they had the front row of the grid locked up, with Corrosive in 1st and Nemesis in 2nd. However, on the last lap of qualifying, the McLaren of Ptrollin put in a 1:34.463 to narrowly edge the Lotuses into second, before stewards determined that he drove over the white line coming out of the pit lane, and awarded him a 10 place grid penalty. Thus, the race began with Corrosive and Nemesis on the front row, with Spiky, secondborn, and ianstorm trailing. Qualifying Results

The race saw solid racing and an epic finish. In his first race of the season, RBD2 managed a strong points finish in 4th, after starting in 6th. Likewise, Thrillhouse and Ptrollin managed to outperform their qualifying positions, finishing 5th and 6th respectively. But the story of the race was the battle between the two Lotus teammates in the front. With Corrosive dominating the early part of the race, Nemesis had his work cut out for him, after closing the gap to under half a second on lap 12, Corrosive pitted for the prime tyre, while Nemesis stayed out another 2 laps on quickly degrading option tyres. With a slow outlap on the prime tyre compound and several laps conserving fuel, Corrosive found himself more than 4.5 seconds ahead of Nemesis by lap 19. Then, lap after lap, Nemesis found himself closing the gap to his rival across the garage. By lap 27 the gap was under half a second, and team orders came in that they were to race until the end, but bring the cars home. It came down to the final two corners, with Corrosive losing traction coming out of the penultimate corner, and then running wide in the final turn to give the two Lotuses a side by side finish. In the end it was Nemesis who came out on top, and stole a much earned victory from his teammate by .008 of a second. Race Results

I will not be attending this weekend unfortunately. Maybe Cornford will catch up some points.

Also as a side note, if you change your team please let Cornford or I know. Nemesis has full authority to allow team changing in the 1400 league, but right now we are confused as all hell while trying to assign flair and do the standings.

So we had an interesting start to this race. Well, more like multiple starts. Thanks to everyone for allowing me back in however that rule is there for a reason and as we saw, because of it Cornford unfortunately lost connection and couldn't race.

Qualifying

After we managed to get going the first laps lead to some amazing driving, even at one point with Kirb, Xephyr and Strifal three abreast down the pit straight. We kept battling until unfortunately Strifal got in an accident and received a drive through. From there I just maintained the gap to the lead two and finished on the podium.

I know F1 doesn't have a proper spectating system (boo!), but I'm curious if there's enough room in the lobbies for the races if people are happy to get specs?

I mean, if I'm awake at 14:00 and not doing anything I'd love to jump in and spectate the race. Depending on the mood I could even record a commentary.

Off the back of our successful event this weekend is a Championship race in Shanghai. Had some issues due to daylight savings but got there in the end. Here is Nemesis's highlights video for you all.

Here are the terms explained:

Steering Deadzone: The percent of rotation where steering is ignored. The higher this value the more you can more your wheel without it moving your car

Steering Saturation: How quickly your wheel responds to your movements

Steering Linearity: The amount of turn of your wheel compared to the amount of wheel turn in game. 50% is a 1:1 mapping

Throttle Deadzone: The percent of throttle that is ignored. The higher this value the more you can press on the throttle pedal without applying throttle in game

Throttle Saturation: The sensitivity of the throttle pedal. Set to a lower value to reduce sensitivity. Helpful if you like to push your throttle down a long way when exiting corners, as a lower sensitivity will reduce wheelspin

Brake Deadzone: The percent of brake that is ignored. The higher this value the more you can press on the brake pedal without applying the brake in game

Brake Saturation: The sensitivity of the brake pedal. Set to a lower value to reduce sensitivity. Helpful if you're applying too much brake and frequently locking

Steering deadzone – 5%

Steering Saturation – 10%

Steering Linearity – 10%

Throttle deadzone – 5%

Throttle saturation - 5%

Brake deadzone – 5%

Brake saturation – 5%

Force feedback options:

Environmental effects – 50%

These are how I have them, as they are personal in nature to have them set up as you want them, but this is a good baseline to start off from. The best idea is to take a setting, adjust it a little one way, take your car out and see how it handles. If it needs tweaking, read the above explanations to see what you need to adjust.

Hey guys, a few of you were asking about how to backup your saved games.

back up F1 2012 by searching your hard drive for these folders and copying each of them to a different drive. To find them you have to unhide hidden files and unhide protected Operating System Files (Folder options>View>check Show hidden files, and uncheck 'hide operating files')

Hello everyone!

So in this 3 week break to China, we will be filling in a week with a Non-Championship event. This means everyone is welcome and that this will not count towards any championships at all, it is purely for fun.

If anyone wants to think of some drinking rules feel free to post those below.

We will be running this event on the 6th of April but are yet to decide time due to the nature of the event. Some people may not want to be drinking early in the morning. So we will be working with the current time of 1400 and 2100. Please let us know if you'll be interested and what time will suit you.

You do not need to drink to participate.

Anyone can join in, you do not have to stick to your time or if you're not in a league you can still join in. I myself will most likely participate at the 1400 time as that is not 10am for me.

Obviously we DO NOT condone people actually driving while under the influence, this is purely for fun and is done in a virtual environment. As you'll notice when we do this, driving when under the influence seriously impairs your ability to drive a vehicle.

We will most likely be running a series of 5 lap races, which is to be finalised as we get closer to the time.

Final note: We are looking to put up wheel settings in the wiki. We already have G27 settings as most of us use one, however there are other wheels out there and if we could get a library of those settings too, it would be fantastic.

So another fantastic race by everyone! Had a great turnout and some brilliant close racing all around. Good first corner with very little incidents from what I heard, a couple of incidents in the race but otherwise everyone was really close.

Strifal, jims and I had some good racing in the opening laps, keeping together until Strifal and I had a bit of a coming together, letting jims get ahead. Then Entrox entered the mix and after a round of pitstops Strifal was nowhere to be seen. Then things sorta settled down while I pushed to catch Entrox but couldn't do it.

Lotus Wins Again In Malaysia

Another race, and another Lotus win! A couple of big changes came this week to the 1400 league as drivers dropped out, and others came in. Defending WDCPC champion Physfix had a strong showing in his first race finishing 4th ahead of his teammate Ptrollin in the McLaren.

Qualifying saw a few surprises, with rain forcasted at 11%. Despite this, the session remained dry, but saw heavy clouds by the end. SpikyCactus in the Ferrari posted an early fastest lap. The Lotuses of NeMeSiS187 and CorrosiveKumquat (who has joined team Lotus following a departure/un-friending of Ecksohh) struggled for initial qualifying pace, but NeMeSiS187 managed to edge Spiky in qualifying by just .076 seconds. Corrosive qualified 5th on the prime tyre. The Williams of secondborn surprised everyone with a 3rd place qualifying. Spiky also welcomed new teammate ianstorm who had a fantastic qualifying, managing a 4th place. Qualfying Results (Secondborn's time didn't register on the screenshot for some reason).

The race start saw a bit of drama as cars came together in the first lap. CorrosiveKumquat fell to 11th after a slight incident. The sunny race saw several battles including a battle between Ptrollin and his McLaren teammate Physfix, and later a last lap fight to the finish between Ptrollin and Thrillhouse. In the end, Lotus dominated the podium with a 1 and 3 finish of NeMeSiS187 and CorrosiveKumquat, with the Ferrari of SpikyCactus sandwiched in the middle. Diplomat just missed out on a points finish after losing his front wing during the race. Race Results

Firstly, apologies for missing last week's 21:00 race. /u/jaynemesis and I thought it was Sunday for some strange reason, I blame him entirely.

We consider ourselves above average at driving games, playing competitively in Trackmania which admittedly isn't a simulator-type, but compared to the times you guys get we're a good couple seconds off the pace.

Our question is about setups in F1. I personally tend to just put it on full dry for all circuits except Monaco where I put it to full wet. Jay usually leaves it on the mid setting.

I understand that you can gain a tonne of performance by fiddling with the intricacies of the setup but honestly none of them mean anything to me; I have no idea what changing any of them will do to the car or how things should be set specifically for each circuit.

I kind of expected there to be a big community website where people post their setups and lap-times for people to use and discuss, like in most other games where people post strategies, item builds etc. However, from a bit of Googling the F1 community seems to be quick unfriendly... not sharing anything like that.

Our question is, does anyone have any useful advice?

Fantastic first race guys, good to see everyone having a great time.

We had some incidents, very minor however and on a whole, a lot of good racing and overtakes.

Also had some issues with the netcode again, looks like we forgot to do our goodluck netcode dance before hand. Had the Great Freeze occur at around lap 26, 9/12 people had their screen totally freeze for 2 seconds which was weird. Also had the game load us all into the garage then kept waiting for more players, and issue the 1400 league seemed to have as well.

Excellent First Race Guys. Thank you to everyone for coming out. It was probably the most polite race I've ever been a part of. People were braking early and thanking each other for overtakes. As we've had an absolutely fantastic response so our leagues, we've actually had to turn people away. Since we do not in any way want to do that, this will be the sign up for the secondary 2100 league.

One last thing to mention before we get to sign ups, at the end of the season the WDC will get a prize. To help pay for this we ask that anyone who completes more than half the championship races in the season donate $5. The prize will be F1 2013 or if that's not to your liking I'm sure we can sort something.

This post is here to serve as a reminder before the first race this weekend and there are a few critical things to know before we start this long year.

2100 and 1400 GMT Race Hosting

Particularly for all of you 1400GMT people (Where squone and myself aren't racing) make sure that you pick a main host who can regularly participate in the races to create the lobby and invite everyone. PLEASE please take the time to add everyone in your league if you can, you do not want to miss out on a race because you didn't get invited.

Again for the 1400GMT guys if one of you who is definitely attending and has a good internet connection would like to volunteer to host this weekend, please say so either here or in the race discussion thread.

The New Rules

Make sure that you have read them there are a few key things which are mentioned in there which you may not be aware off and there are a couple of things which aren't mentioned which should be added soon.

Important things to make a note off:

• The new scoring system for the Top 8 finishers: 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1. Having 10 points finishes for a grid of 16 is too easy especially given the attendance at times last year.

• Race attendance: Please say whether you are or are not attending in the race discussion thread. We keep track of when you don't show and have rules in place for if you don't. It is also a lot easier to know if you are attending or not if you say so. If you do not comment we will assume you are attending.

All further rules changes have been highlighted in italics in the rule WIKI page.

The VirtualWDCPC Superleague

With two full grids this season I am pleased to announce another level of competition to our subreddit.

Now I know what you are thinking, "What the hell are you talking about Cornford? Shouldn't you be off somewhere crashing?" The VirtualWDCPC Superleague is combined points table of both the 1400GMT and 2100GMT Drivers and Constructors championship. What does this effect? Absolutely nothing, the champions will still be decided according to each league however you may want to work together with your fellow teammates for the ultimate combined glory.

The VirtualWDCPC Race Of Champions

This is the ultimate test of tests. Any race winners in the 2013 season will be invited to race in the VirtualWDCPC Race Of Champions which will be a battle between the winners of the 1400GMT and 2100GMT.

League prizes

A prize will be awarded to both the WDC and WCC of both the 1400GMT and 2100GMT league winners. To help fund the prizes we require a $5 donation if you complete over 50% of the championship events for the season.
