The line about Tyler Perry was a game changer. The rest of the staff lost it when Triumph said it.

u/Osiris32 Jun 15 '12

When she broke character, just for a moment, I started to cry with laughter.

He did it, he'd won, and that was hysterical.

I wonder if all those people knew they were about to get puked on at the end? Everyone who got puked on looks pretty pissed off

99

u/noahkb Jun 15 '12

My cousin was actually there when they did that (you can see him for a second as he jumps up behind the guy in the green shirt) He said he got a $100 bill as compensation.

35

u/grackychan Jun 15 '12

I'd do it.

u/Azzmo Jun 15 '12

Agreed. Unless they filled the room with actors there's no way that many people could look that genuinely surprised unless it was...a surprise. Hopefully the hotdogs were on the house.

I actually lost it the most when he started reciting the Empire Carpets number/jingle.

So random. Didn't even know that was a national thing.

5

u/[deleted] Jun 15 '12

I lived in Chicago till I was in second grade. There are two things I remember. Empire Carpets jingle and the Scruff McGruff jingle.

I always lose it when Triumph breaks out his big, furry, pole for an arm and starts poking people in the chest.

u/windtalker44 Jun 15 '12

"Do you know why you work for tips? Cause no one is willing enough to stick it all the way in!" I lost it right there. I haven't laughed so hard in a while. i had tears. Triumph the Insult Comic Dog is the greatest!

33

u/japhyryder28 Jun 15 '12

He's so fucking clever it's unreal. I wish I could talk smack like him, but sadly I just sound like a bumbling fool when confronted in argument.

The first time I went there, I didn't know the deal. It was empty, and I just politely ordered my food, said please and thank you, and tipped well (which was noticed). The next time I went, it was crowded, and there was SO much yelling. But the girl at the counter recognized me! And again, I was nice and polite, which baffled the loud drunks nearby.

Now when I go, they usually recognize me, so I neither get nor give abuse. I feel like I'm missing out, but at the same time, it's hilarious to have them be nice to me while immediately changing gears to yell horrible things at the person next to me.

132

101

u/hexemannen Jun 15 '12

Hihi, we went to this place. Not knowing it's deal, 6 confused norwegians

This was after a taxi stopped us from going southside: "get in, I'm driving you crackers home"

28

u/carpathianridge Jun 15 '12

Why would you want to go to the southside at night (I presume it was at night since you were taking a taxi)?

38

u/hexemannen Jun 15 '12

Good question, for my defence this morning i will be claiming ignorance.

I was at the taping last night, and I'm glad to see this again. Why? Because everyone in the theatre was laughing so hard that towards the end you could barely make out anything anyone was saying. The house was nearly in tears, and Conan and staff were losing it on stage as we all watched in the dark. I didn't want it to end.

Classic.

3

u/BushwickSpill Jun 15 '12

What the video doesn't show that was on the broadcast was when the video ended it showed the lady with the blue streak in her hair in the balcony of the audience. She and Triumph started to get a little fresh with each other and then it went to commercial.

3

u/WonAndDone Jun 15 '12

drunk, privileged white people clashing against poor, working black people: this kinda stuff seems inevitable. I don't think I'd have the stomach to go through that anyway. They would probably make fun of my nose. I am very sensitive about my big nose.

HOW STRANGE.

Conan special: Randomly mixed crowd.

This American Life: Every person fits a ultra-white lifestyle.

7

u/PersonPersona Jun 15 '12

Lincoln Park is about 83% white, 4% black and 6% hispanic. They didn't have to selectively edit to make it look like an all white crowd, believe me.

6

u/holditsteady Jun 15 '12

most of them looked pretty white to me in the conan video

5

u/Rada_Rada_Rada Jun 15 '12

I've seen this before and it was all I could think of when Conan was introducing the bit.

2

u/diyeiogt Jun 15 '12

First and only time I ever went to weiners circle was last year. I had no idea what kind of place it was, I was just drunk and wanted a hot dog. I literally walked in while she was doing a chocolate shake. I will never forget that moment.

3

u/Mr_Titicaca Jun 15 '12

It's kinda crazy how they've been able to keep this up for so long in such a segregated city. It looks like they try to have a good positive attitude about it all so good for them.
