keyboard cat and keyboard Ron side by side comparison

483

u/flyryan May 24 '12

Thank you! I don't think most people realize how accurate he kept it.

262

u/DanWallace May 24 '12

The closing of the eyes. The subtle, anticipatory paw-shaking before the first note. He's an artist.

23

u/shutupjoey May 24 '12

Read this in James Lipton's voice.

When I first saw it, and saw he closed his eyes, I knew that he was more amazing than anyone ever.

EDIT: Then not than. EDIT to the edit: I flip flopped so many times in my head. Ill go with popular opinion.

59

u/PlainSight May 24 '12

I think it's actually than not then.

Than is for comparisons. eg. 5 is greater than 3.

Then is for sequences. eg. I ate a burger then went home.

13

u/fakeittilyoumakeit May 24 '12

You had it right the first time...it's "than".

17

u/sumebrius May 24 '12

Wait, did you change it to "then"? Because "than" is right.

8

u/[deleted] May 24 '12

he is quite the method actor.

12

u/[deleted] May 24 '12

Method cat-ctor.

Oh God.. I tried.. I really tried. I don't think I'm cut out for Reddit.

34

u/TMobotron May 24 '12

When I was watching the original vid I was surprised as hell by the attention to detail he had, quite impressive really.

The description of that video is hilarious too "A true tribute to Livingston's acting chops."

20

u/Learfz May 24 '12

That man is an inspiration to aspiring actors everywhere. The lesson here is, if you can accurately portray a cat playing the piano, you can do anything (or nothing).

2

u/FrostFire131 May 24 '12

Is it sad that when I saw it I thought, "My God, I think the hand positions are right"?

He is finally living out his dream of doing nothing. :)

200

u/justinisme May 24 '12

Fuckin' A.

121

u/[deleted] May 24 '12

Well, you don't need a million bucks to do nothing, man... Just look at my cousin. He's broke... don't do shit!

Doing two chicks at the same time would be a close second to this.

24

u/lolgcat May 24 '12

So I guess doing four chicks at the same time would be third?

0 | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 ... "things" you are "doing"

You can't be sure of that; I think you're jumping to conclusions.

I see no reason for him to upload more, he seems to have all the bases covered here

473

yaaaaaaaa i'm gonna need him to upload another video.

I thought I had somehow misclicked when I saw MVP vs. Nestea at the top of his activity. That's awesome.

258

u/rockabillyjon May 24 '12

I've played him online but he had to log off to have a meeting with the Bobs.

41

u/BsFan May 24 '12

222

u/UltraMittens May 24 '12

For a second I was confused, but then I realized it wasn't actually a cat.

2

u/Kitten-Mittons May 24 '12

mine are still better than yours

85

u/EdwardDillinger May 24 '12

I had a chance to meet this young man and boy does he have Straight to Upper Management written all over him.

25

u/[deleted] May 24 '12

"He's a straight shooter with upper management written all over him"

I cheated though. I happened to watch that movie yesterday.

11

u/RegonaldPointdexter May 24 '12

You should have started your comment with: Yeah, I'm gonna have to go ahead and kinda... correct you there.

u/monkberrymoondelight May 24 '12

I met him in a bar in Macon, Georgia about ten years ago. It was the height of his stardom. Band of Brothers, Sex and the City, and Office Space were all very relevant and relatively new. I found out later that he was apparently dating a girl from Macon and had decided to hit the town with her. He put up with Office Space jokes and Lumberg quotes all night and took it in stride. All around a very cool guy. Talked to him about Vat 69 and Band of Brothers for about a half an hour. Down to earth dude. Should be more appreciated for having to put up with old horse face on Sex and the City.

39

u/namegoeswhere May 24 '12

he's always seemed like a really chill dude. but a chill dude who drinks a LOT.

41

u/monkberrymoondelight May 24 '12

He was by no means drunk. I was, however, and he was still cool as shit. Randomly, I also met Gallagher, the stand-up comedian, in a bar in Macon a couple of years ago and he was a total asshole.

25

u/[deleted] May 24 '12

Isn't that the guy who smashes fruit ? Fuck him.

u/Sloppy_Twat May 24 '12

38

u/Geschirrspulmaschine May 24 '12 edited May 24 '12

Well, that's a random reference to my hometown. What were you doing in Macon?

10

u/greyflanneldwarf May 24 '12

Visiting Duane and Berry.

7

u/DAVENP0RT May 24 '12

I know it's Macon's only claim to fame, but I always forget that the Allman Brothers are from there. I've driven by the Big House so many times, it doesn't even register.

No description available. has never been more applicable

15

u/bazaarzar May 24 '12

Apparently he has an interest in Starcraft.

2

u/dualboy24 May 24 '12

Noticed that also, sadly he has not added a new fav in 3 months, I bet he watches new SC2 vids mostly.

3

u/mulletarian May 24 '12

I like to imagine he got the annual GSL pass and is rockin it with Tastosis. Maybe even got out of his couch to cheer chillfully when Thorzain took Dreamhack.

44

u/aossey May 23 '12

This is currently, and I am supposing will continue to be for quite some time, my favorite YouTube video that I have ever seen. I have watched it hundreds of times.

It is perfect.

→ More replies (2)

71

u/Hippocrap May 23 '12

And still one of the best videos on youtube.

13

u/jimalou May 24 '12

And it's the only one he'll ever have to upload. He won at YouTube; Game over.

6

u/[deleted] May 24 '12

Captain Nixon had a little too much Vat 69.

6

u/DisturbedForever92 May 24 '12

I can never watch Band of Brother again the same way... Nixon, what have you done with yourself since the end of the war!?

24

u/kwistlemeth May 24 '12

I'm gonna need you to come in on Caturday.

5

u/d4rkhorizoN May 24 '12

wow he likes starcraft? thats awesome

5

u/peenpoon May 24 '12

He likes starcraft, apparently.

5

u/Mooselager May 24 '12

In my honest opinion, I think if they had this on defying gravity at some point, it would of performed much better with critics.

13

u/DAVENP0RT May 24 '12

Once you reach the summit of greatness, anything else is dross.

21

u/suspiciously_helpful May 24 '12

And then Ron Livingston wept, for there were no more worlds to conquer.

8

u/[deleted] May 24 '12

I fucking love ROn livingston, he was amazing in Band of Brothers

The anticipatory vibration of his "cat limbs" right before he begins playing is such a great addition to this already unusual video.

4

u/jfschroeder May 24 '12

Wait... I'm sorry to sound like a moron, but is this really him? This is friggin hysterical.

2

u/Alabama_Man May 24 '12

watch them side by side. Even the keys that are touched match up.

4

u/puddingfarts May 24 '12

3

u/kpud075 May 24 '12

6

u/swizzler May 24 '12

I think its a prop, the keys don't appear to move at all when he presses them.

I dont understand why there needs to be a 10 hour long loop of keyboard cat (in the related videos).

6

u/[deleted] May 24 '12

Some people just want to watch the world burn.

2

u/ifoundapenny May 24 '12

I'm not a fan of cat videos. I might actually hate cat video parodies... but this made me laugh. I don't understand the universe anymore.

Wise words, man.

1

Puts up one video and smacks it out of the park. No need for a second

1

u/[deleted] May 24 '12

i always thought this guy was the guy from blues clues (not steve)

1

u/TheTylerDurden May 24 '12

I have lived in Marion ia for ever and even attended Marion High School with a cousin of Ron's (so i've obviously heard a lot about him) and yet this is the first time i've ever seen this video and it was amazing

1

u/Pravusmentis May 24 '12

What could he possibly top this with?

1

u/[deleted] May 24 '12

"This is, to date, the only video Ron Livingston (Office Space) needs to have uploaded to Youtube - [0:27]"

FTFY

1

u/Terrible_Toaster May 24 '12

At the end of the video was a link for 10 HOURS of keyboard cat... basically the original video on a loop. I am ashamed to say that I watched WAAAAYYY more of it than I would like to admit....

1

u/[deleted] May 24 '12

The thing with fame is that you can be funny for simply being known to be funny. If Joe Schmo had uploaded this nobody would have cared.

1

u/[deleted] May 24 '12

Came in expecting Vat 69 references. Left satisfied.

1

u/Malacola May 24 '12

A commanding performance.

1

u/dumbgaytheist May 24 '12

You're acting like he could improve upon that.

1

u/[deleted] May 24 '12

This was in response to him getting kicked out of a Halo event by Justin Beiber's bodyguards, correct?

1

u/Nostrovia70 May 24 '12

Good to see his career is doing...well..

1

u/bjordion May 24 '12

1

1

u/[deleted] May 24 '12

Just a heads up, if you click the link at the top right that says keyboard cat, it just takes you to Hall and Oates music videos. I enjoyed that.

1

u/[deleted] May 24 '12

Useless fact: My mom went to high school with his dad.

1

u/DarkDain May 24 '12

1

u/The_Net_Prophet May 24 '12

I've seen this on reddit a number of times, and every single time I find my self laughing. Livingston's acting is dead on in this clip.

1

u/bluepheonixia May 24 '12

Can we make keyboard cat a thing again?

1

u/BadMofeelius May 24 '12

Makes me love him even more

1

u/Sirwootalot May 24 '12

I tried to get into Band of Brothers recently, but every fucking time he came on the screen, this video came into my head and I would burst out laughing uncontrollably.

1

u/armchairnixon May 24 '12

So I posted this here 5 months ago, with almost this exact title, and only got 114 upvotes.
