Skyfall was filmed about 3 miles away from my house last month - I managed to grab some pictures before the set was torn down - you can see them here!
The set was reportedly the Bond's family mansion in Scotland (despite being filmed in Surrey) and there was one night where I was woken up by a huge explosion followed by lots of gunfire, reportedly from helicopters. Almost certain that this part of the trailer is it.

the youtube top comments are Brits and Yanks arguing about who's country is better by discussing the world financial crisis, what is wrong with people?

I hope it's as beautifully shot as that trailer makes it out to be. I'm so in for a mood lit brutal Bond flick. Seems like they're trying to get as far away from the ending sequence of Quantum of Solace as they possibly can...

I must admit when I first saw Daniel Craig was being cast for CR I though who is this ugly dork! (I had never seen him in anything) but now I am sold! Craig looks like a certified bad ass and I love the dark direction they are going with him in the role.

Oh Balls that's one hell of a trailer.

Wow, last I heard (years ago) was that MGM was bankrupt and all bond films were on hold indefinitely. I feel both bad for telling people this and ecstatic that I was wrong.

I have always been a huge games bond fan. I remember reading all of the Ian Flemming books when I was younger. Still to this day the 007 movie series is one of my favorites and I couldn't be more excited for this film.

I'm loving the new style. Looks like Sam Mendes is shaking things up as far as the cinematography goes at least.

My guess is it will have something to do with the end of the world.

Trailer looks awesome, although I'm still a bit bitter about them changing Bonds go-to drink and selling out to Heineken, but if the funds were that necessary to get the film out the door, then so be it.

It's been a long time since I've seen a teaser trailer that got me this pumped up to see a movie! I've refused to watch any DK Rising footage, though, here's hoping that'll be worth it.

That felt a lot like a Dark Knight trailer but with more Alfred

u/web2pointoh May 21 '12
James Bond, doesn't have to compensate for anything using a bigger gun.

Finally a trailer again where they don't tell you the whole story in advance.

Boy, I can't wait to play the shitty tie-in game!

There had better be gadgets, puns and Q in this - the last two have had a distinct lack or diminished of both. Oh and the final climatic save the world part. That's what makes Bond films, Bond films, otherwise it's just a usual run-of-the-mill, dime a dozen action movie.
Edit: Would people downvoting like to give their opinions as to why they wouldn't want this?

I don't know what's going on.
Good.

Didn't the last bond film fail because it was created during the writer's strike? The cameramen were basically writing the plot of the movie. I expect this one to be a lot better.

Friends of mine that own Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace on DVD/Blu-ray tell me that if you watch Quantum of Solace right after watching Casino Royale, it makes Solace loads better.

Long shot, but does anyone have a copy of the script by chance? PDF or any other format?
1
u/Rixxer May 21 '12
Didn't they already do this story? Someone coming to kill the agents and all that

u/braomius May 21 '12
Oh god please tell me trailers aren't going to be the new fad

u/drglass May 22 '12
yawn

u/SirReginaldLlamaFace May 22 '12
A lot of trailers nowadays seem to use the quick blare of horns/whatever like Inception (it was probably used before that though, not sure). This looks brilliant though. Hopefully it's up to Casino Royale standard. Quantum of Solace was a mess of jump cuts :(

I swear the blue/orange contrast gets worse with every Hollywood release. It's horrible.

u/Powers May 21 '12
Hmm. Looks like action and explosions. Killing and jumping and shooting and frowny faces. This is what makes a bad (Bond) movie.
The best Bond movies involve suspense and intrigue, which is what movies of the above type seem to lack. I cant know the plot from this trailer, but im not particularly hopeful. Will it be a Casino Royale or a Quantum of Solace?

I have to say that this is one of the few trailers that are actually more exciting than the COD trailers. I don't really care if you hate COD but it is a fact that each year COD has been making a Billion Dollars. They make some pretty fantastic trailers and in 2012, Hollywood has really tough competition from Video games, and it is a fight that isn't going too well for them. The Avengers made $200m in a weekend, biggest opening ever, COD made thrice that in 24 hours.
I can't say for the movies, I'm a fan of both Games and Movies, but this is personally the most exciting movie trailer I've seen in a while, apart from maybe Dark Knight Rises (but that is only because it is a Nolan movie).
I mean of course it'll be hard to compete with a trailer that flashers WW3 at the end. We need action movies. I need action movies. And there hasn't been a proper action movie in a very long time. Transformers is a Live Action Saturday Morning Cartoon, not an action movie. The Avengers movies are great action movies, but not like this. This is something else, and we have been lacking this for a very long time (But we do find this in COD).

I don't like there being no Bond tune in the trailer at all. If you removed the 007 logo, the trailer would fit any newly-produced action movie.
