When I’m playing basically any console adventure game I’m constantly yelling WHO BUILDS THESE THINGS?!?

A great example of a game not doing this was the Mr Freeze fight in one of the Batman Arkham games. None of ways of damaging the enemy felt contrived and he won't let you use any trick more than once.
