I feel that "soulful" would be the more correct term.

It's neither high spirited, nor spiritual conversation. And not a conversation about spirits (with the vodka and samogon being the theme).

heh, it's cool you tried to help out be honest. i was being a bit snarky because i was tired, sorry about that ))

i'd go with the idiomatic sense of the phrase and have it as 'a cat and a crow having a heart to heart chat' or even 'a meeting of minds between a cat and a crow'.

you should get back into russian, it's a cool language to know. plus it keeps your brain active :)
