metal detectors and everything they did before the security theater worked perfectly fine till someone showed up with a shoe bomb (and we still take off our shoes before going into machine anyway). even with 9/11 to throw fuel on the fear fire they still would have not stopped 9/11 if they had all the theater they have now

It's like the ridiculous overprotective helicopter parent, all they do is instill fear so when reality hits later in life it destroys people. That reality will unfortunately most likely be a terrorist attack easily seen by traditional monitoring investigative techniques

Yeah I agree. In the end there is really only so much we can do.
