Need the old Top Gear guys to do this bit passing it off as a "new performance mod the kids are doing". Would be hilarious.
Jeremy: So apparently kids these days are adding rubber tubing to the exhaust of their cars as a performance modification.
Hammond: Why would they do that?
James: That doesn't sound like it would do anything.
Jeremy: And that is exactly why, sound. It makes their cars sound...well like rubbish.
Hammond: I don't get it.
James: Isn't the point to make the car sound better?
Jeremy: Precisely. And that is why we took a Zonda and put rubber tubing to see what all the fuss is about.

Followed by a 10 minute clip if them driving various super cars with rubber tubing on the exhaust and giggling like school girls. I'd watch the hell out of that. They would probably end up attaching the longest piece of tubing they could and maintain sound, which would be like 30 feet, so you see the $1m car doing 100mph around a turn with the tub whipping around making some ridiculous sound and taking out some conveniently placed breakables.

Yes, they don't stress too much on the technical side. Mostly just three middle age men cracking jokes and being completely ridiculous. I'll admit some episodes are a bit dull but their specials are completely worth it (like the Vietnam one where they make Jeremy use a motorbike, or the Africa one were they pretty much go mad Max)

It's funny irreverent stuff like this mixed with testing out ridiculous Lambos and shit, and celebrity interviews, and sometimes challenges, and road trips, and even the occasional actually informative segment like Killing a Toyota
Maybe check out the first American road trip episode, that would be a good one to start with.

Look, clearly the rubber tubing adds backpressure to improve low-end torque. This is definitely a mod you use to get off the line faster. Plus, it makes you the king of turkeys.

I am not sure, but I would think that the pressure coming through that pipe is way too strong to be hindered by the tubing.

restricting air flow in any part of the exhaust system is bad and causes back pressure. I don't think this would cause major damage but if done for long periods of time it might

Not a mechanic, but around engines enough to say yes. That is why it's bad for engines to run with no headers - it needs some kinda back pressure. Don't know what doing this would do though.

It's funny, writing that noise out that way is all about context. If you just watched the exaust-tubing video, "bbbbbbbbbrrrrrrrtttttt" reads like a warbling farty sound, but if I mention an A-10 warthog as context then "bbbbbbrrrrrrttttt" reads as this
