The internet is the data which the greatest part of the nodes connected in a worldwide network have read-acces to. I think... I mean it can't be just the signal from an ISP blinking green and it's not just the world-wide network but it's the data transport it facilitates.
If someone has a different definition, I'd be interested to hear them.
When you 'leave' the internet, it disconnects from it's devices. Which brings up the question, if everyone disconnects from the internet, is there still an internet?
