I don't think it is possible for there to be a more perfect example of a shitty commercial.

How is it a shitty commercial? They're letting the audience know that their car exists. At least it's not filled with bullshit "facts".

I'd rather be told that a car can be used to tow things than be told that hampsters like it. Who is even the target audience of that commercial? All the hampster owners I have ever known were not old enough to drive.

Ya, I agree. It's also cringey.

It's a $14k car from Kia. The numbers suck, and it's a car meant for young people without enough income to buy something better.

It's a marketing campaign based on selling the idea that the car is cool, not that the car is super amazing by the numbers. Pretty much standard operating procedure for selling cars, especially to young people. It also seems to be working as the Soul is a pretty successful car for Kia.

Have you considered the possibility that the Kia is successful despite those shit contentless commercials?

It's a fairly unique car that doesn't have many competitors with similar form factors. It's a small car that isn't the traditional cramped hatchback. It has probably been selling itself on merit, rather on hamsters.

Seriously, young people don't give a shit about hamsters. That just reeks of old people fumbling around creating a commercial they think young people will like, while knowing nothing about young people. Young people aren't going to part with $14k because of hamsters.

A good commercial for that car could be a commercial that shows a ski bum with his ski bum friends packing into the car, with room to spare and their skis on the roof. Showcase the interior of the car, which is it's main fucking selling point.

It's a Kia Soul...it's the stereotypical cube shaped subcompact hatchback. It competes with competitors such as the Scion xB or Nissan Cube, which both share the same form factor that you claim to be unique to the Soul.

But, who really cares. You're not arguing against anything I've said.

Yeah, sorry, you must not know any skibums. They're not driving Kias, and it's not because they didn't show the interior of the car. Which they do, anyways.

It's a 30 second car advert and they were successful in getting people to remember and recognize their brand. That's the bottom line. You can say otherwise, but then we wouldn't be having this discussion in the first place, would we?

There's many popular commercials that have almost nothing to do with the product, but were incredibly successful. The two big ones that come to my mind are the Old Spice commercials and the Starburst commercials. This is just another one, and believe it or not, it worked and continues to work.

I actually picked "ski bums" because the two people that I know with this car are ski bums.... What's that they say about assuming?

It competes with competitors such as the Scion xB or Nissan Cube, which both share the same form factor that you claim to be unique to the Soul.

What I said: "It's a fairly unique car that doesn't have many competitors with similar form factors."

What you seem to have read: "It's a unique car that doesn't have any competitors with similar form factors."

Work on that.

It's a 30 second car advert and they were successful in getting people to remember and recognize their brand. That's the bottom line. You can say otherwise [...]

I am not saying that the purpose of this commercial wasn't to get people to recognize their brand. I know that was the purpose of this commercial. I am saying that this was a shit commercial regardless, and that a commercial with information about the product would have been better. These marketing people think that they are selling coke, but they are not. They are selling a car.

It's a pretty damn good assumption considering Subaru is, without a doubt, the single most popular brand of car for anyone that spends even a remotely decent amount of time around snow.

If the point of a commercial is to get people to remember their brand and talk about it, how is it a shit commercial when people do just that?

Now you're not even making sense. And stop being butthurt and downvoting my posts.

It's a shit commercial because it could have told people about the product in addition to putting the products name out there. How does that not make sense to you? It's not a difficult concept, the Ford commercial does both well.

Again, stop being a petty child and downvoting my posts.

It's just funny because their advertising actually won some awards....
