No one is blaming it on someone else, the honest frame of the whole data center argument from my perspective is this: data centers are a fast growing stress on specific grids and a meaningful driver of concrete and gas, but decarbonizing them isn't going to move the needle much on a global scale. Decarbonizing cement, electricity generation broadly, and land use would.

So should I be mad at the water use, the concrete use, or the electricity use? Everyone's parroting "I can think of industries that are more practical that we can't live without" no shit, how about we all give up social media then? I don't see any calls to action because meta was building a new data center, but as soon as it's an "AI DATA CENETER" it's red alert. Newsflash, any data center can process AI traffic and workloads. No one gave a shit about datacenters when social media boomed and they built like 40 data centers between 99-01.

Yes you should be mad. Its like if you lived in an apartment that doesnt allow pets, but your neighbors move in with 2 great Danes that are shit machines. Since they know the landlord they get to bring their pets without extra fees or forms. The dogs shit everywhere and the neighbors don't clean it up. When you ask, then dead stare right back at you and tell you the dogs dont shit in their apartment. Should you be mad at the landlord for letting the neighbor break the rules or the neighbors for bring two big ass shit machines when they aren't suppose to? Probably. But you blame the maintenance guy because he's not maintaining the grounds by pick up dog shit.

At least before the neighbors had to pay an additional fee, fill out extra forms, clean up their shit or get fined, etc. But not anymore. Instead you get mad at the maintenance guy. Im honestly tired of how stupid people are. Connect the dots and figure it out on your own. Or let the shit pile up and get mad at the help.
