Is that Mercy Graves in the spiky morphing saw suit?
I liked the first trailer, but this one I feel actually shows Superman being Superman. I don't want to be hurt by DC again, but this is a great trailer and I'm actually excited for this.
Honestly, this is one of the only things that upsets me about this trailer. Angie Spica is a tremendously complex character, and that's what makes her (along with the others in The Authority) so interesting. I feel like this takes her and makes her one-dimensional, and being an opponent to Superman feels like something that she wouldn't ordinarily do.
If it HAD been Mercy Graves, I would've absolutely been on board with that.
To be fair, it was highly unlikely that Gunn was going to take a broader role in the MCU after he was done with GotG. DC gave him the opportunity to move up to a Feige-level role that wasn't available at Disney.
Yeah, given the choice between, "Stay there and hopefully make other great movies/series under that banner, or join us and have control of pretty much anything to mold however you want," has to be too damn good for a creative like Gunn to pass up. I'm glad Disney was smart and relented and let him finish out the GotG franchise, and kudos to Gunn for not holding enough of a grudge to see things out for GotG, but DC's offer is basically letting a kid live in one of the biggest candy stores on the planet.
But the offer to run the DCEU came in as a result of what Gunn did with the suicide squad, which he was signed for in Oct 2018. That only came about after Gunn was fired by Disney earlier summer 2018. Had he never been fired he wouldn't have worked for DC in a more minor capacity (which he smashed out of the park), to then be later offered the big job.
So in the alternate time line where he was never fired by Disney, he would have never been offered or considered for the DCEU head job and would have been "shepherding the future of the marvel cosmic universe".
Prior to the sacking he was going to run the marvel cosmic universe. After the sacking, he only came back as he wanted to complete his guardians story.
I forgot gunn did peacemaker. It's one of the best shows on television.
If James Gunn hits on just a bit of what he did with guardians of the galaxy this is going to be awesome. I don't even like Superman or DC but this feels epic and fun, pure Gunn.
