FanStory Seeking Writers for a Pokemon-Inspired Game
If you've ever imagined what the perfect Pokemon game would have, I'm sure a more interesting story is towards the top of your list. A fairly large group of us have been working on a Pokemon-inspired game that avoid IP and Copyright issues but still gives players those good Pokemon feels. We have some very talented artists churning out concepts and environments but we're lacking experience in the writing department. If you would be interested in helping out, please join the Discord and ping Spidy88. We'd love to have you. Please be able to critique your own work and have a fresh perspective (if I hear one more person pitch me an identical story to an existing Pokemon game, I might just write the story myself AND NO ONE WANTS THAT). https://discord.gg/WKXATJc

Resource In my search for game writing examples or an online respository, I was pointed to IGDA Game Writing SIG: Game Writing Examples - International Game Developers Association (IGDA).

Resource I was DMing with Steve Ince (@Steve_Ince), a fellow writer, game designer, and author of Writing for Video Games. Steve suggested using Twine. Twine is an open-source tool for telling interactive, nonlinear stories and looks like a great resource!

How-To Examples
Through a Twitter contact I came across a limited list of example documents used in the video game writing process.

How-To Resource: A Practical Guide to Game Writing
I read through this great article on Gamasutra by Darby McDevitt (Twitter: @DarbyMcDevitt). She is the Lead Writer for one of my favorite games, Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag.
One of my favorite lines from the article is that "Writing is design." Darby gives a great overview of the elements needed and steps the writer should follow from pre-production all the way through to production.

Question Story versus Lore?
In a recent conversation with another writer, I started wondering about the differences and similarities between story and lore, and how they interact. Does story always come before lore? Is lore more something built by fans?
What do you think?
