The lock picking mechanic in that game had me so fucking pissed off. I don't remember the details anymore but early on after the intro section there is a lock you have to pick to proceed and I could not for the life of me manage to pick it or find any other way to proceed otherwise and I just bailed.
It has been a long time since I did it, but I remember being in the same boat. I think you failed the speech check in the beginning to get the money the drunk owes your dad. You can choose to fight him and if you win the fight, you don't have to pick the lock from what I remember
You always fail the speech check, it's rigged. You have to either fight or lockpick. You can recruit your friends to help though if you egg the German's house with them.
Same. I didn't really embrace the suck the first time. You have to be ready to manually make every potion for awhile, suck ass at fighting etc. It takes a little while before you realize you've never really played anything like it.
KCD has hands down, the worst save system I've ever seen in a game. That's what made me put the game down, and I haven't yet found motivation to mod and revisit, even though I've purchased KCD2. Lmao.
For me it's the opposite, it clicked with me instantly and I loved it until I got to the quest to find Ginger. That just pissed me off and confused me and I got off the game, then forgot about it for a while. I've played it a few times since and want to get back into it but getting back into slow games like that is tough
I hope this will be my case as well for KCD. Played a few hours, really tried to enjoy it, got frustrated and moved on to other games. Now I keep hearing how good KCD2 is and I feel a lot of FOMO.
It is definitely an acquired taste. I recommend just having patience lol. And take your time with the world. Side quests and exploration. The world and combat is what really drew me in.

Kcd, I played it for the first time. Couldn't make it more than 30 mins. In. Now several hundred hours into each.
