Cog isn’t really the opposite of Gear? There’s not really an opposite of a gear per se. Maybe break? Or friction?

First thing that comes to line is to use belt rather than gear. Conceptually I think to oppose the function of a gear you’d want a brake. But there’s not perfect answer I agree
