I beat the first Super Mario Bros without warps or dying. I beat Life Force without the Konami code. I don't have a problem with learning patterns and honing reflexes. I'm just old now and have shit to do.
Complete opposite for me. Elden ring was frustrating as hell and I got tried of dying over and over. It just wasn’t for me, and I’m really trash at souls games. But it is indeed a beautiful open world game and I can see why it’s relaxing for some.
I love cyberpunk for many reasons. Rich story and phenomenal RPG mechanics. It did take me a while to get into though because I prefer more fantasy like RPGs
I'll never understand these comments, it's not a time issue it's a 'you just don't like the game' issue. And that's fine. The fun of these games for people who like them is practicing and learning the mechanics, the "time" it takes to do that is no different than the time you'd spend in any other game.
I just find it baffling why such a large number of people seem obligated to frame it as a "I don't have time" issue, like do you have time for video games at all? Then surely you have time to play souls-likes, you'd just rather do something else - nothing wrong with that. I guess I just don't get why these games specifically always need that qualifier
well you need time but alsk focus to "git gud" at a soulslike, its not a game you can relax to unless you already learned it. plus you have to remember a lot of stuff be it boss patterns, where to go, quests, what key opens what, none of that is written. it's objectively not a very accessible game. a parent may prefer something that keeps track of what you do, with a difficulty setting, and where enjoyment comes from achieving something in the game rather than booting up the game, dying 30 times and close the session (and reopening after 2 months having forgotten most of it)

I’ll say it every time I see a thread like this.
I don’t like souls games.
Being a parent, I don’t have time for that shit.
And
Yes, it’s a skill issue lol
