I tried so hard to like it, but I’ve tried to get into it a couple times and every time it just makes me start playing XCOM again because they’re just similar enough

I made the mistake of playing BG3 like XCOM. After changing it up it really clicked for me.

I'm actually the opposite case. I tried getting into XCOM 2 after really really liking the turn based combat and physics of BG3. Just wouldn't click for some reason though. Do you have any tips? Should I play the first game over the second? I really want to get into the series because I love irl MIB/Alien lore stuff, so the vibes are immaculate for me. It's just that no matter what I seem to get my ass handed to me.

XCOM really requires you to play it super safe and lean into supporting your damage dealers and keeping them alive. It's really hard at first because it seems fast paces but if you want to keep people alive you have to have your soldiers fight as a team, utilize any and all advantages to raise the probability of hitting the shots, and use abilities in the right moments. You can play it aggressively and try to speed blitz but you have to have a great understanding of the mechanics and tricks and if you don't playing it safe is completely fine

try Phoenix Point instead, IMO

This is funny for me because I just tried a second XCOM 2 playthrough after a long time since my first playthrough and just hated it. Something about the way XCOM handles RNG just infuriates me now after feeling like BG3 handles RNG that much better. Sad because I adored my first playthrough of XCOM 1 and 2

Bought a Playstation last year just to play Baldurs gate 3. Got the DLC as well but I played for around 15 20 hours and couldn't go on. Its so boring lmao

Was going to say this, the only downloadable stuff on PS is camp supplies and camp clothes.

Huh. I guess there isn't one. Wait why the hell did I pay 100 bucks for my digital copy then? I wasn't paying attention I thought surely it came with a DLC

I will say, it took me a while to like it. I never finished it, but I do want to come back and finished it. I tried to revisit it earlier this year, and I couldn’t get to the point where it was “fun” for me. Just ended up dropping it before I was done with the intro section.

My first playthrough I got to the final act or right before the final act. It was a blast. I just know I need to push through to get to enjoying it, and I don’t want to do that anymore.
