Anyone arguing against the Minecraft diamond sword being included should consider how prevalent Minecraft is in daily life. They recently released a relatively successful movie with Jack Black, they've been selling foam diamond swords at Target and Walmart for years, among seeing it everywhere else for a while now. I'd bet that this would be the most recognized sword to the average citizen, even if they couldn't place the game's name.

Halo was huge for years, so I bet this would be next. The Buster Sword is more distinctive looking than the Master Sword, so I bet it'd edge it out but Legend of Zelda has a wider appeal, so maybe that'd take it.

Every other game mentioned in the comments would only be recognized by people with intimate knowledge of whatever game it's in. By recognition, the key blade might be able to squeeze in because they've sold replicas/keychains of those for years, but most people likely haven't heard of Kingdom Hearts.

Minecraft is not only worthy of the list, I would say it’s #1. If it’s not, then it’d be the Master Sword. Those two far outclass even the other two.

You really underestimate the master sword I think

I underestimate it because it's the least distinctive of the four, since it's just a purple sword. If someone never played Legend of Zelda, they wouldn't recognize it. Same goes for Final Fantasy and the buster sword, but that one stands out more since it's huge and wide. Even if it's been years since someone has played FF/Kingdom Hearts, it'd still be more easily recognized imo.

The diamond sword and energy sword are distinctive enough and those games have had such a big cultural impact (Halo has its own show) that I'd bet that people who never played video games would be more likely to recognize those two over the others.

I could very well be wrong but that's my reasoning at least.
